My employee went and was in the drive through line before they opened. Said it was about 30 minutes to get through, by the time she left the line was backed up to 121. This was around 11:15.

I know someone that went around 3 to the drive thru. It was well inside the parking lot (less than half as many cars as it would take to get to 121), but still took an hour. Moved very slowly, which is not unexpected

That's a head no from me - ain't nothin good enough to wait that long for.
They'll speed up significantly as they get experience. Portillo's is always great about moving people through the lines quickly.
The car line on this past Friday night was ridiculous.
Any updates on the wait times? Really want to try this place.

We went to Scheel's on Saturday and when we left around 3-3:30 there was a cop directing traffic with a pretty long line. I'm ready to go, but still probably going to be a month or two for the craziness to wear off.
Left work early and got there just after 4. From the time I parked to getting back in my car, about 35-40 min total. No people waiting outside - hadn't seen that before. Drive thru line was by far the shortest I've seen it, probably half of the shortest I'd seen previously. It's a double line but I'd guess 35-40 cars total.

Haven't been to the one here yet, but me and my wife loved Portillo's when we went to Chicago a few years ago.

No. I think In N Out sucks - skinny patty, fries that are either soft or overcooked. Can't believe people waited hours for it. Portillo's is a whole different deal. Now I don't think anyone makes food worth waiting 1-2+ hours for, but as the lines decrease, it's worth checking out. If you haven't had an italian beef before, start there. Like i mentioned above, with hot peppers is the way to go. But other good options there too. Unlike In n Out, their fries are actually good too (crinkle cut style)
And you have to get a chocolate cake shake. Dear God that thing was good.

You can get most of your daily caloric intake in 1 shake! The large is 1490 cal.

The article said the site would open up 4th quarter of 2023. I'm not sure if that means the restaurant itself or the jobsite will be open (for work) at this time. I'm hoping Portillo's is open at this time and not just getting construction started. I'm ready to eat!

Italian beef and sausage sandwich was sublime. can't really get anything like it around here and worth the wait.
chicago dogs are very good. I'm a hot dog fanatic and they're done well. the only thing i'll say is that as far as chicago dogs go there's only so much you can do and there are a couple of places that are just as good. if you're going just for the dogs you could probably visit New York sub in HP and have one just as good without the hour wait

Finally made it up there. Got there before 11am so the wait was pretty short. The Maxwell Street Polish was incredible. I was a little let down by my Italian beef but it was still easily the best one I've ever had in Texas. I'll be happier when the Arlington location opens since it will be a lot closer to me.
TJ's Dawg House doesn't use poppy seed buns for the Chicago dogs... may be a major buzz-kill for purists, but it doesn't bother me.

Just put down a beef with mozz, hot peppers, and gravy. Finished with a couple sips of the cake shake. Hard to beat.
How long did you wait? We went a couple Saturdays ago around 1pm and waited in line about 45-50 minutes.
Drive thru line was like 40 mins
