Random observation after watching this thread for a while... it's interesting how we all mostly judge movie theaters now by the quality of the food, seats, and other "soft" product aspects as opposed to presentation details like sound quality, 35mm vs. 70mm film vs. 4k digital, etc. I assume this is because home theater equipment has gotten so good lately that there's really no reason to go to the theater just for the presentation quality alone. I think extras like full menus w/ waiters, reserved seats, etc, are great, however, and it's really the only way that modern theaters can distinguish themselves from each other now that technical qualities of the presentation are pretty much uniform across locations.
For reference, here's some links with info on the original Northpark Cinema that I referenced in my first reply for those of you who may not have been in the area back then (it was a standalone building not connected to the rest of the mall that sat roughly where Nordstrom is today). I have extremely fond memories of going to movies there as a kid. Saw most of the major 90's films there like Jurassic Park, Apollo 13, Forest Gump, just to name a few. The sound system in that place was truly amazing, and I can still remember sitting down near the front for Jurassic Park and feeling like the wind got knocked out of me from the sound pressure. I haven't really found a theater ever since that comes close in terms of sound quality at least.
