I'm happy to contribute, but I got no pappy.
Sounds good man. I'd be happy to organize everything. Best I could do is getting some ORVW donated...as far as the pappy is concerned.

Just kidding on the pappy.

For those still out I'll check when I get home. I have to do a siprep before I crash. It takes me about 35 minutes to get to Burnet from AE Office

The area south of st Elmo from Congress over to Menchaca has been dark since Wednesday. Haven't really seen any progress and haven't been able to get an update through the call center

Live here. We've got so much tree damage. I'm pretty pessimistic about our chances of getting power before Sunday.

Flipped back on over night. We have had it pretty easy all week.

My neighbor thinks since we live so close to the hospital on 620 that we get priority power supply. Makes sense in theory but I don't really know.

Neighbor's house down the street. Someone mention something about "tree rot". Is that what that black stuff is? And it broke off there?

Did anyone else answer this question?

I saw the same thing on other massive trees where they had broken. For a second I thought: "wow, did a lightning strike split the tree" but I realized that was unlikely.

On the plus side: The old Farm Boss is still a dependable beast. The Honda Eu 2200 can run the freezer, the refrigerator, and the WiFi. We had residual warmth in the water heater after three days with no power. We are definitely going off grid for electricity in the future. The wife and I can and did outwork a crew of five yesterday and today. Old farts rule. We don't need no stinking electricity, until the septic fills up. Stay safe and hopefully everyone is having as much fun as we are.

We grilled a bunch of thawing chicken and Impossible patties last night. Making more ice and wine/prosecco runs now that we can't use back patio as a fridge. Love the sunshine though. Hopefully tomorrow or Monday.

Power on for 15 minutes. Fully stocked up on gas wood and water. 32 years with a total of one hour of power outage before this. I think there are only 350 homes left without power in the area.

They're pretty good. Chicken was wifes. My cholesterol has gone way down since quitting non-seafood meat.
Lack of electricity is a PITA but it's a first-world problem. We never lost power or water two years ago so this is our turn. Going to be our last Winter here though.

Ours finally came back on today after going out on Wednesday. I ordered a 7500 watt generator today though because I don't trust Austin Energy anymore. This crap is going to keep happening every year.

Sorry today was crazy I didn't have anytime to give up dates. We had fires and stuff trying to heat up the lines. Your distrust should be with the City Council. They are the ones that prevent AE from doing what we need like trim the trees, upgrade the facilities and so forth. We have even put together data and presented it many times to them in meetings. Telling them what will happen and they ignore it.

So how is AE responsible when we are the ones informing them and asking to do what we need to do & they won't let us. Then quick to turn around and put blame on us. Typical liberal BS blame someone else for their failures.

You guys that all live in Austin who are customers need to be showing up in numbers at council meetings and hold Ming them to accountable. Until that happens they will keep making bad policy and putting blame on other people.

Also every counsel meeting is recorded. . You can go back and watch those videos where AE has informed them over and over and they tell us no. It's on record but alot of people don't know that or care to unite in mass numbers and do something.

You should find them and post them here. Not easy to search through. If posted, pretty sure they'll spread like wildfire.

I hear you: they'll talk about how unacceptable energy cost is, but long ago supported buying into BioMass a blowing $700M or something over time (maybe more) to keep the plant idle.

They have no ****ing sense, and literally no skin in the game besides a term.

$15B for some train lines....

Here's another example not only will they not let us trim the City makes Austin Energy who's apart of the City get permits that the City has to approve to remove a tree.

Also let's not forget the council took your dollars and budgeted $179 million for homelessness assistance from fiscal year 2019 to 2021.empowering Austin Public Health, Housing and Planning Department, and Downtown Austin Community Court were responsible for managing most homelessness-related spending

I can tell you the crews I'm overseeing right now when it comes to tree trimming I'm having the guys cut 20 feet right a ways and I can tell you I've had the guys also cut trees down and I haven't filled out one permit.

Good for you!
In the 15 years I've lived here, I've often noticed how many trees grow into power lines, and it's always surprised me. Sure, the trees are better than the one-sided pines I grew up seeing in East Texas, but this week proves the folly in that. Glad to know that I need to direct my frustrations at the city council and not AE.
I appreciate all of your and your colleagues' work this week! Seeing pics like those drive home how lucky I am to have only lost power for about 56 hours! Could have been a lot worse.

We've been out since Wednesday at 4am. Been hanging out at our ranch since Thursday.

Got a notification Friday morning that our power was restored so we drove back in only to find out that it was still out. Oh well, back to the ranch.

Even with all this, my hats off to AE. This chaos is crazy and their effort to get power back city is impressive

BurnetAg is 100% spot on. Council runs AE to generate cash and implement and fund social programs they want to do to look like they are solving the world's problems. It has been that way for many, many years. They do not do tree trimming because every time AE wants to trim a tree the resident complains to their councilperson and the councilperson backs AE off. When bad things happen council hides behind the utility board which council told years ago that that they would be advisory only.

Our council person has already submitted a resolution for a audit of AE vegetation management practices. Problem is she is the only conservative member of council and they marginalize her constantly.

We have some family issues keeping us here now, but we plan to leave Austin as soon as we can.

Burnet, I appreciate everything y'all are doing and I get how widespread this is so the following question isn't a complaint. I just don't know how connections work. Our particular outage seems to be confined to maybe four blocks on two streets. I can see lights from houses and a school a block away. Is that likely a transformer issue? There aren't any lines down that I'm aware of. We're marshalling on, at least we can open doors during the day now. Again, we appreciate what all AE and cooperating utilities folks are doing.

Hero gathering at Westlake Methodist. Hopefully these guys get a well earned break soon. Ran into the mayor who was out on a walk to get away from her phone. She was in good spirits as always. It's amazing what transpired between two picture perfect Sundays.

Edit: Looked like they were replacing a capacitor, and more. Not a social gathering.

Hey BA99,

my old neighborhood off bull creek behind The Grove is still without power to maybe a hundred people. Our Neighbors inside Rosedale off Ramsey-west side are as well. East Ramsey was lucky and never lost power. Phew.

People are frustrated not with efforts of AE, but have no idea where they fall in the queue. Is there anyway to know if they'll be scheduled for today, tomorrow, Wednesday?

Thanks.

Do you know when these meetings occurred? Bc I'd personally go through the videos and find evidence of this and hold these people accountable. A small percentage of residents don't get to hold an entire city hostage with their ridiculous views on trees.

Someone should get this to each of the local TV stations and see what they will do to investigate / expose. Needs to happen sooner than later while residents are still po'd.

I'm not in Austin so can't really get this rolling…..
