Another good, family-owned Italian place is Damianos, just north of Avery Ranch. The place is nothing special but the food is great.

We go to JAK for HH once or twice a month. Fried catfish is 1/2 off ($6), add a side of fries and a couple of glasses of wine and you're winning. And don't forget their habanero hot sauce.

Chuys gets hate only because of their expansion nation wide. It's legit boring Texmex and the Barton Springs and Duval locations are fun. We patronize them a lot but some of it has to do with convenience too.

I think I like Enchiladas y Mas better, but they're a bit on the dirty side of the spectrum for my wife and Chuys and the old Jardin Carona on Pond Springs were just too easy to get to for us. The new JC location at Anderdon Mill doesn't seem the same for me.

If we're basing favorites on frequency of visit for my house, it's probably:
1 CFA
2 Chuys
3 Aviator Pizza
4 P Terrys
5 Little Deli

Results have changed a bit due to opinion of the 4 year old.

J Carvers is a news place. Everything is amazing.

Based on how often we go, it's either the Paige Roadhouse or Los Patrones.

Las palomas - Ate there with my mom when my middle older brother was at tu. First restaurant both kids entered. Can't go there without seeing someone we know. Shady Grove where we celebrate all the perfect weather days since the first kid could walk is gone. The big Schlotzkys where we celebrated the last day of school for both kids since their first year of preschool is gone. County Line on the Hill gets the number two spot, we eat there at least twice a year since the first kid was born. Honorable mention for Hula Hut when the summer crowds fade. The food isn't great at any of these, but the memories are thick and delicious.
