Taking over I-35 at night is probably a bad idea....luckily, they didn't succeed. A lot of "protesters" could have died. Some of this is NSFW (language)

I totally agree with your second paragraph.

I'm not sure why one of my post twisted so many panties. There were several posts (dagger, thomas, sea hoss, even you) who had very few, if any, posts on Austin board and most were predominately Politics. I wasn't policing and don't give two ***** if you want to talk about Trump but there's a board for that. The thread had some fun parts and I echo Charpie. We haven't had a four-pager on this board in a long time and it was entertaining. I feel like sone were disappointed that Austin wasn't an ash heap this morning. Although that was a helluva storm cell that blew through 30 minutes ago.

There have been numerous reports of "Antifa" coming to this place of that. It's excited folks on the right and folks have even shown up to "protect" this city or that. In the end, almost all of them have been hoaxes designed to troll the proud Boy crowd or the result of over active imaginations.
the post you replied to, my post, didn't have anything to do with that. I didn't believe buses were coming, or that "confidential information" allegedly "from the FBI to local law enforcement and DPS" (but "I can't tell you where I heard it" ha!) was being shared for the first time on Texags, or that Antifa was on rooftops scouting out police headquarters. Which is why my first reply referenced Jade Helm. BUT, I do believe law enforcement could have enough belief in it to respond in some way - I know someone in Travis COunty emergency response and they'll pretty much treat everything as a legitimate threat until proven otherwise, it's a bit bizarre sometimes but the "safety first" defense is usually what they go with. For whatever reason, Austin PD and DPS had an elevated presence in Austin this weekend.

I was just trying to say I wasn't surprised such an inflammatory title lead to more than typical austin board activity, and didn't like the idea that someone who doesn't regularly post on the Austin board shouldn't now be here - even if they are right wing, left wing, or prone to conspiracy theories. And also trying to say that despite all the odd claims and left/right bickering on the thread the thing that was most distasteful to me, if true, was the OP claiming his law enforcement contacts were excited about battling rioters.

My point was not an attempt to contradict yours. It was merely trying to elaborate on how these urban legends and hoaxes are forming. Take anything you read about the supposed sourcing of these stories with a huge grain of salt and don't believe for a second APD was looking forward to fighting with protestors, etc. I can't think of anything worse than dealing with these guys on a typical hot Texas night in the Covid era. I am sure the police agree.

Yep but that didn't stop the protesters to try to break the law. To bring that many Leo's they had intelligence. It stopped what could have been worse.

Also still waiting for you to call out the non Austin people here.

It's really hard to figure it out. They could have been posting on Houston/DFW boards just a month ago, moved to Austin, and are already starting to tell everyone else "Austin's full, traffic sucks, Torchy's and and Hopdoddy's was Austin's first."

Apparently you need to show 24 months of renting history to post on this board.

We are not unreasonable, a utility statement that doesn't say Round Rock, Leander, Cedar Park, Buda, Manor, Kyle or Bastrop should do the trick.

This is similar to the Wilco crowd complaining about city of Austin matters. If it doesn't bother those of us who live here, why should it bother those who don't.

Policies implemented by city of Austin and Travis county effect everyone in the region to some extent. In particular, issues regarding transportation and selective enforcement of laws spill over jurisdictional boundaries.

Correct. The policies in Austin most definitely affect the surrounding towns.

It seems you're going to be intentionally obtuse, so I'll give three recent examples.
- The interim Travis county health director has caused RRISD (since some campuses are in Travis) to delay in-person schooling and forced private schools to throw up their hands and amend their start of school plans before the AG stepped in.
- I got stuck on I-35 southbound because some idiots decided to have a May Day 'rent strike' by blocking the highway.
- One of my preferred pre-dawn running routes is now blocked by a homeless tent city.

I don't find that permitting and encouraging lawlessness is in my best interest.

Same with the City of Austin is in Hays County also. The policies force the local municipalities to have to Adhere to Austin's policies.

Same with Govt. The head Judge Becerra praises former judge Eckhart and her socialist ways. Echos her sentiments all the time.

San Marcos is Austin circa 1990 right now but changing dramatically.

It makes a lot of sense as to why so many have constant puckered bung hole what with being forced to live somewhere they hate.

That's the part I don't understand. If you all HATE Austin so much, why stay? Why work here? I mean, you are literally contributing to the problem. The Fall Guy's hate for the town is evident by how much he posts about them on the politics board. The best part is how he called us a bunch of non believers for questions him. He linked this thread on the politics board.

What's the end game? Austin politics SUCKS...make no mistake that the majority of us see that. However, the town is pretty awesome.

Good Lord the entitlement. I work in Austin because I have a cool boss and small company. I don't spend much money in Travis County. We can have discussions here or the politics board about Austin policies. I see it all the time for Houston, San Antonio, DFW and don't see the whining from their residents.

It's not political discussion that most folks dislike, it's the ridiculous echo chamber only mentality of the f/16 crowd that is polarizing.

So working/eating/shopping in Austin but living in CP or Round Rock disqualifies you from commenting on things in Austin?

I'm not one for complaining in general, but it's pretty myopic to suggest that Austin issues don't affect everyone in the general area.

Agreed keep politics on the politics board. The moment ANTIFA enters the conversation it will no longer be about Austin and be about politics. Also, the answer is no, I don't want to read non residents complaints about Austin unless the specifically affected you like Frozen's. Although a homeless camp on my running trail doesn't bother me specifically.

@Mods since it was already linked on F16, can this just go to the politics board where it belongs?

And in an effort to see this post fall off the first page in the next year on the Austin board, this will be my last post on this thread.
