Mayor John Nichols has served his country, his state and his city for decades. He's an honorable man and I'm proud to have served with him and look forward to his continued leadership in our community.

My mayoral exploratory committee wraps up Friday around 5:30pm. If my wife and I decide to move forward, I'll make an announcement at that event and officially file on Monday.

On Friday, my Mayoral Exploratory Committee and special guests met. 44 attendees representing neighborhoods, public safety, businesses, former elected officials, educators and more discussed the future of our city. We reviewed results from two surveys I'd sent them in advance- with excellent responses that prompted thorough discussion.

An impromptu motion was made for me to file, then seconded. When put to a vote, the recommendation was unanimous. And so, as of an hour ago…

Excited for this season to kick off. I look forward to the opportunity to earn your vote and be on a council that can work to earn the public's trust back.

If the city manager runs things the way he did under Nichols, I would want no part of that. I've been suspicious that he was following Nichols' lead, much the same as the fire chief and police chief. Hopefully, a new mayor and we see a different side of the city manager and staff.

As long as it's Yancy, right? I don't see Cunha making any changes.
