I enjoyed going there. In part because they were never that crowded.

Every time I tried it never found a compelling reason to return and pay for parking.

I went a handful of times and it was always great. Sad to see them close as they were also on my list for dog friendly porches.

Would love to see a good local sports bar open there.

I think Pop Stroke will probably take over that area as the local pub. Need something to compliment that. Whiskey Cake Restaurant next to it in Katy is always packed. Not sure if they'd expand to here though. There are about 5-6 of them in Texas.

Oh man I really liked Mos. Loved the cheeseburger egg rolls and the wide variety of things. I wonder if being closed for lunch was a bad strategy

This. I said on the coming / going thread that while we liked it, we tend to avoid places near campus while the students are here. So, when they're not, we still don't go because we don't think about it.

They were as local as many of those what people think are local but are owned by persons living in Austin, DFW, Houston, etc.

I'm not sure what you are trying to say.

Are you trying to say that the people that worked as managers and servers weren't local?

I was always surprised that BCS could support 2 Irish bars within 1 mile of each other.

I get Mo's sells food which differentiates them from Obannons but when I think of Irish & food all I come up with is a potato.

I never even thought of them the same way. O'Bannon's is a bar. Mo's always felt like an Irish themed Chili's to me.

Not at all....that's why I said owners. I can see why my response was confusing...it was meant as a generic comment about local versus out of town businesses.

If you research the property tax records a little you can see that some of the local businesses are owned by persons who live out of the area. One of the most popular local establishments for many, many years the majority owner lives in California.

We should support local as much as possible, but people need to realize that a lot of people's livelihoods are from chain and out of town owned businesses. Can't you imagine the impact on people and the local economy if both of the Lowes in town closed down.... like Lowes did years ago?

Also, many of the chain stores are locally franchisee owned businesses.

Lowes closed down years ago?

You mean Furrow's?

Has to mean Furrows.

Neither of the Lowe's locations here have ever closed down.

Lowe's used to be where Grand Station is, and that one closed.
Stupe

Woodiewood may be talking about that one. That Lowe's was more like a general store and it wasn't really closed because of lack of business.
That was when Lowe's was shutting down a lot of the small stores in towns or areas where the large stores were going to be built.

Service was really bad at Mos but it was still one of the better places to catch a game in town.

Heard yesterday that the owners of Porters/Juanitas is already making plans for the space.

Went there to watch maybe a game or something and left after waiting far too long for service. They weren't busy and had no one working

Same.

I went one time, received bad service, and never went back.

It's the same as pretty much every other restaurant/bar type in town - the market is oversaturated, so you will fail if you don't provide a consistently better product and service than the majority of your competitors.
