Jason's Deli is Aggie owned. Joe Tortorice Jr., the founder, was in the Corps with my uncle, Class of '70. It is named for his oldest son, Jay, who was at A&M while I was there. I consider it local.
where was the original Jason's Deli in college station?
It was closer to Bush, at Bush and Texas. Where Computer Access used to be, IIRC.

We don't eat out much just due to calories and my awesome wife has time and skill to make great home food. We got our new Husky, Turbo, recently and have been trying to socialize him on the weekends with dog friendly restaurants so he doesn't end up growling at kids like our other dog who is an 11 y/o rescue we got off the streets about 9 years ago.

The problem is many restaurants are just empty. We have been to several both local and in Katy (where my dad lives) and there is just nobody eating out on the weekends. It is very odd and concerning.

Anyway we will continue to do what we can to support local eateries, but it is rough for them lately.

No fault to the restaurants as they are just hanging, on but eating out at a good restaurant is so expensive these days. the 20% to 30% and higher increase in inflation over the past three years of labor, property taxes, and product costs is killing both homeowners and businesses. Paying $45 to $60 and up for the meal, sales tax, and tip for an average sit down meal is expensive when you consider that you can make the same at home for about $20.

The owner lives in beaumont. My wife and I eat there almost every week. Are we still allowed to eat there?

I love shopping local, I try to any chance I get. I would much rather visit a unique local run eatery over a chain restaurant. The same goes for stores locally.

I always try to shop the local brick and mortar buildings in town over buying online especially. The thing that is frustrating is going into a local store looking for a specific product. When asking if they can order me a certain size or something currently out of stock, I'm told " Oh you can just go on our website and order online". Totally defeats the purpose of going into the store. Rant over.

I love the convenience of that, myself.

When I think local I think stuff that can't be bought anywhere else. Artisan stuff and the like.
