Crews are still working to switch traffic to the new northbound lanes. Signals are in red flash at Bush, Luther and Holleman and officers are working to relieve congestion. Please allow extra time and pay attention to the officers and work crews. This will likely last through the morning traffic peak.

Traffic was ridiculous getting to campus this morning. Even my normal back ways to campus had long lines of cars. Watched someone pass cars stopped at a light in the turn lane to run the red light this morning. I am so tired of the road construction.

Why does the new road not have three lanes? To me that seems like a huge mistake if that is the case.

.....and they're still working on the ramp from Wellborn to westbound FM 2818. Traffic is a mess on Wellborn northbound from Deacon.
Avoid this area!!!!

The new road will have three lanes when completed.

This was freakin stupid. This crap should've been done overnight. And when it wasn't, there should've been police all along the road allowing traffic to flow in. People missing appts, meetings, classes, tests. That was ridiculous and cost people a lot. Took an hour and a half for me to get to work.

Construction all along Wellborn, 2818, Rock Prairie. No good way to avoid it coming into town in the morning or coming home in the afternoon. My 7 mile drive takes 45 minutes in the afternoon. Better planning of these projects needs to be done.

But this morning was just terrible planning. They can't completely shut down a major artery for traffic and then have no plan in place to relieve the overflow.

I knew about it when I drove into that area this morning.

Maybe a quick note to KBTX would have helped?

Times like these I'm glad I work from home and don't have to deal with rush hour in that crap

Also, when is that railroad crossing at Holleman going to be addressed? They had all summer. They didn't touch that part of the project.

That isn't helping traffic on 2818 or Wellborn either.

Mistakes only happen once or twice before people learn. We make screwing up construction projects an art form.

It would surprise me if this project isn't to meet demand from the last 10 years and instead meet the next 15+. We have a history of not looking forward.

Why is the construction in our area so poorly done? From the planning to implementation its garbage. I work throughout Texas on big TXDOT projects and BCS seems to be one of the worst at implementation and frankly horrible overall ideas on how to handle the needs of the area. This 2818 project is underwhelming and not going to reduce the issues we already have.

They have had 2 years, this project was announced by the city before work on 2818 began. It should have been a priority to relive traffic on the 2818 construction. Instead it makes traffic even worse because they cannot get their crap together to get it done. The railroad is certainly an issue and TxDOT and all politicians need to stand up to them and force them to be more amenable for the greater good.

TXDOT should have just gone ahead and made it a freeway.

Good luck. Railroads and pipelines have all the power. They do what they want when they want

Yeah we do projects in the Metros and the boonies and yet we still have projects that run smoothly and the plans developed actually meet the needs of the area. The city, county, and MPO seem to be just inept as properly planning and completing infrastructure plans for the area.

Tried to take Luther from Penberthy to 2818 on the way home.

35 minutes. The lights up at 2818 will let two, maybe three cars across to the median. Then wait on the left turn signal to get onto 2818.

Horrible light timing. I hope someone from TXDOT is reading this. And actually cares.

You should have went to bush. They were getting too much time….
All the minor roads along 2818 were getting too much time previously.

I drove through again last night after soccer. The biggest issue I have seen in my couple trips is southbound 2818 at Luther needs a lot more green time that should all come from the northbound left turn green time. I got caught right at the light and got to watch the whole cycle. What a waste of time. Just sitting there at a a red light while northbound has green and nobody is pulling a u turn is horrible design. Luther could even take some of the northbound 2818 green time if they don't fix the timing at bush because 2818 northbound will likely backup anyway when it is busy.
The second worst spot was northbound 2818 at bush. Not enough green time causing all the northbound backup while bush had no queue.

It doesn't have 3 lanes because they are using what will eventually be the third lane as a left turn lane at the lights. The actual left turn lanes, which will be separate from the main lanes, are not built yet.

The signal folks will be out again this morning working on the timing. In addition to these issues, the Holleman approaches were getting very little green time yesterday. It made 2818 work great, but Holleman had very long delays. In general, the goal is to get back to something close to the old timings. There will be more delays because the intersections are now larger (wider median) and we need to have longer yellow times.
I believe they are done messing with the striping and barricades.
Please watch out for the workers.

So will Hwy 6...construction starting this fall.

It's just hard to stay up with the growth of our area with somewhat tight resources. We are exactly what I saw in Austin in the early 70s, extreme growth, lack of ability to address traffic growth quickly. Our city and county fathers don't need to keep spending money to promote companies to move here....they are coming all ready.

With the benefits of being a large city, there are consequences also including higher crime and major traffic issues.

The two traffic actions they could make is one, extend Fitch over to Hwy 47 going just west of the airport and getting some traffic off of Wellborn and 2818, and two, begin construction of the east loop that is in the long range plan getting all the through traffic off of hwy 6.

In line at West Holleman and 2818 now. Watching 2-3 cars make it to the middle of the 2818 main lanes at each light change.

It's gonna be bad in a little bit.

They should have started at bush and 2818 this morning being that it is the most important of the 3 lights for the morning commute and was the biggest cause of northbound delay yesterday? So far this morning other than traffic on Holleman, the northbound 2818 traffic is the only backup due to the light at bush. This was common before the switch because the timing at that intersection was not good previously (never a queue for bush and minor queue for southbound 2818).

In the morning? My post was just concerning the morning. They need different light timings for afternoon.

Bush is never as bad as 2818 in the afternoon either.

You said "never". That didn't really differentiate between morning and afternoon for me. Sorry.
