From TxDOT Bryan twitter
"FM 2818 UPDATES-This is an ongoing construction traffic shift that began last Wednesday night. Temporary traffic signal timings are in effect. More traffic shifts will occur overnight, tonight. Traffic signals will then be timed to control this new construction configuration."

Umm the old timings only needed tweaking to work with this temporary configuration and even less tweaking to work with the soon to be longer term configuration. The contractor/consultant needs to be held accountable. In big cities contractors cannot even temporarily close lanes to do work during peak travel times without paying for the closures due to the delay they will create.

What a horse **** excuse for their **** up. There is zero reason for a light to be letting there to four cars though on a major thoroughfare during rush hour. ZERO.

Based on current google map delays I would avoid 2818 this evening. yesterday it was not too bad. They clearly messed up the luther light overnight. It is already causing significant delay for southbound traffic.

Actually if you take luther to 2818 you should be ok unless luther backs up, but that leg may be getting too much time which is why 2818 is backing up. Bush may be even be ok. I got a feeling the interchange at FM60 and 2818 will be a mess because southbound 2818 is not getting enough time at luther.

We could make a thread about major thoroughfares that don't have construction, but it would be blank.

Yep, or you can say need construction as about the time that one section anywhere is finished, others will begin. We are trying to play catchup on roadways while at the same time that the community and Texas A&M is growing at about 5,000 a year. Our population is about 125,000 with many of the college students not included in that #.

A couple of days ago, the cars headed east on George Bush and in the turning lane to turn right on Texas Ave were lined up almost all the way back to where Fairview St is. Anyone in a hurry were turning onto Pershing and Lee and weaving through the residential area working their way to Holleman and SW Parkway.

We are mirroring what Austin was in the late 1970s and 1980s which was overwhelmed by it population growth.

Seemed to be flowing much better this morning and the light times were longer.

Did notice there was someone at each intersection monitoring things. Hopefully they have this figured out.

Yep. Good job finally. Longer lights like we've been saying seemed to help tremendously.

A Constable appeared to be operating the signals at Bush and 2818 manually. If that's the case, we don't have a fix just yet.

Just want to give a shout out to all the police who were working the 2818 construction last night! There were so many. They were very friendly and helpful in directing traffic! Like everyone, I can't wait for this to be finished!

If possible during construction, they need to put a right hand turn lane heading south at the Holleman intersection like there was before construction. So much traffic turns there. Today there was a backup for about a quarter mile in the right lane while there was about 8 cars in the left lane at the light.

Wow that's crazy they would not have a right turn lane there during this phase of construction. I have a feeling they will add one. Just too much delay and a safety issue. Not too surprising though with how they have handled the signal timing. Also there isn't even going to be a right turn lane for Luther when the project is complete. they have a right turn lane for a small apartment complex right before it though…

KBTX: Even after adjustments, traffic is slow on FM 2818 during rush hour
