Watcher on the Wall (Longmire and Rock Prairie)

Curious about this one. Can anyone expand further?
There is a homeless? fellow who hangs out at Longmire and Rock Prairie (he normally sits on the retaining wall). He is not soliciting donations (that I know of), he just seems to like to watch traffic.

That's Jericho (correct me if I'm wrong). Is been in and out of Brazos County jail multiple times for various reasons… most of them for assault type offenses.

He will occasional start yelling at traffic, not just watch traffic.

A few months ago, he was on the corner of Deacon/Texas by Wings N More. I had the window down on my truck… he came over spouting off about some gibberish then threatened to kick my ass and to "never forget that".

I showed restraint but all he has to do is do it to the wrong person carrying. Sad really.

I do know that folks have brought him food from time to time but he is quite unstable.

I have visited with Jericho several times. Nice guy. Gave him a donut last time I saw him.

Now when he sees my truck he waves. Sometimes he comes over and shakes my hand.

Has mental issues compounded by alcohol. Last time that I saw him he was across from wings and more at the shell station.

Rumor is that he has a brother in town that tries to help him and he stays there during the really bad weather.

That preacher guy who would hang out at Northgate almost every night during the weekends. He would help out at Antonio's when the bar closed sweeping the floors and straightening chairs. I have no idea what his name is.

This was from like 2013-2019. He might not be there anymore.
I wonder if that's "Brother John" who used to preach all the time around Rudder, or someone else.

Pretty sure it is. We used to see him at northgate Thursday night into Friday morning then he'd be preaching to no one in particular Friday morning around Rudder during PT. Have to have some respect for that kind of grind.

Colonel passed away last year. He was quite the Aggie. We prided ourselves on setting up the tailgate in spence before we were allowed to and none of us would drink a beer until the colonel had his first. He'd usually pop in around 7:05. He had some incredible stories.

Interesting. He's the Colonel that I knew that was always on northgate and everyone called him the colonel. Curious who the other is then.

That's the only Colonel I knew.
I took him to the VFW a few times.

He had his demons, but he loved A&M and the Corps.

I've talked to him many times on Northgate. He said he was a helicopter pilot? and I'm guessing in Vietnam. I read the obit but not much said about his military career. Did he mention the helicopter stuff to others?

I've seen him pacing and yelling at the sky at that Rock Prairie location before.

What about the guy who used to stand on the corner of WJB and Coulter, sometimes he would wear headphones and direct you when it was safe to go across. He would occasionally flip the bird to cars, but most of the time he would just wave.

He used to work at Whataburger on Dominik, back in the 90s.

I had a soil science prof that was a character… Dr Milford I think?
Dr. Milford was the best. Unfortunately, he passed a few years ago.

There has been some ladies, that have it seems like, have the same signs asking for money or food and have two children and homeless. They just seemed to pop up. On corners of university and bypass and can't remember the other location. All out at the same time.

I've seen cops talking to them on two different occasions. Once in the Wells Fargo parking lot at Briarcrest/6 and another time the cop pulled onto the median on the East side of University/6 near the creek. Neither time looked hostile or anything, just like they were having a conversation. The time at the WF the lady was on a cell phone. I've also seen a man, so I wonder if it's a family.

There's another guy that sits at University/6 on the side of the Chicken E. He wears a mask. He gets very annoyed when you don't give him money.

It looks like the same family that used to hang out near Texas Roadhouse with a sign, and then in the pedestrian tunnel near West Campus Garage after Aggie football games.

I've seen the woman and the kids recently. Maybe dad finally got a job.

Somebody probably gave him money. If he has money, he'll buy alcohol, then get jumpy. If he's sober he's happy as a lark to just sit and watch traffic. So only give him food/water if you are feeling generous.

IDK if she qualifies for this thread or not, but there's a middle-aged woman who walks up and down Rio Grande ALL THE TIME. She's rail thin and just walks, like 23 hours a day. I see her out there before the sun comes up, midday, and evening time.

Food and water is good. Never give a beggar cash, IMO.

While in the Fuego drive-thru earlier a man that resembled Travis Scott approached my window and said he needs money. He's from New Orleans and his car is out of gas at Whataburger (which is not close by).

I told him I don't have cash (I don't) so he moved down the line of cars asking for cash until Fuego asked him to leave.

The worker at the drive-thru window said they keep having to ask him to leave.
