CSISD just updated their web site today to show that masks are now required for all ages, not just 10 and up as per the governor's order.
Who is advising them on health-related matters? Have they not read how young children in masks are more likely to contract COVID-19 because they don't have the maturity to not touch/mess with the mask (getting the virus, if any, from the exterior of the mask on their fingers) and then touching their eyes, nose, and mouth?
Anyone with a Kindergartner knows how hard it is to get them not to pick their nose, or how hard it is to get a first grader not to wiggle that loose tooth non-stop. Now we're going to make them wear masks that may have the virus on the outside which guarantees it will get into their eyes, nose, or (more likely, and) mouth.
They do say it might be possible to get a medical exemption from this. I can imagine a child with asthma or other respiratory issues could get an exemption if there were a pediatrician who realized that masks are doing to do nothing (and are more likely harmful) under the age of 10. Why does CSISD think the governor's order was for 10 and up?
It would be nice to find such a pediatrician.
