From a nurse in a hospital, testing will continue. Reporting may be delayed. The deaths are a few weeks delayed anyway. Please be patient. We are all just making sure we are able to get to the hospital and home.

Whatch once they get back online with reporting they play catch-up and say 600 new cases (because of backlog).

The local media will word it in a click-bait, fear-mongering way.

Absolutely no doubt that is what KBTX will do.

Dairy Queen has managed to be open all week but BCHD can't work?

This means one of two things to me... Either A- This "pandemic" is over if the BCHD can shut down for a week and we need things to get back to normal when they open on Monday. Or B- the people who run Dairy Queen need to be put in charge of the BCHD.

Why not both?

Seriously though, the BCHD hasn't worked out their own remote-work protocols, particularly given COVID-19?

If you lay any scorn on KBTX or their reporters, this thread will be scrubbed clean and locked so quick it'll make your head spin.

KBTX is reporting that the BCHD reports 115 new cases. Assuming that is including all of the past week, not bad at all.

Also reporting 514 active cases currently, so active case counts have fallen off a cliff. Down by nearly one third over the last week. Since hospitalizations lag, hopefully we'll see this number drops drastically as well soon.

Those numbers, like always, are anyone's guess on the dates. I know of one death last week, no telling when that will show up in the count. If what I hear about this persons situation is anywhere near correct, that number will increase.

not to be Negative Netsmith, but I don't imagine many people ventured out for COVID tests last week.

Covid must be over. Went to a "taco Tuesday" place in town and prepackaged condiments are gone and self service tubs and real silverware are back!!

I was happy to see some normality! Here's hoping it can continue and we will see improvements in other places as well.

hearing that there has been an increase in infections on campus. I wonder how many of those are in the 100+ yesterday and 125+ today

For yesterday's new confirmed cases, 85 percent were from the 18-24-year-old age group. For today, 54 percent of the new confirmed cases are from the 18-24-year-old age group.

But I'm not sure if campus numbers are included it the BCHD's reporting.

The TAMU Covid dashboard shows a big jump February 21. I suspect we're days away still from the snowpocalypse surge in cases.

Four cases of COVID-19 UK variant reported in Brazos County

Ugh. But I'm sure the variant is widespread and has been here for a while. It's going to be interesting to see how our local/county officials deal with this news.

Fear porn, nothing more.

It's been here and has been for a while; just like countless other variants.

With our vast public health infrastructure, are there any actual epidemiologists who are willing to weigh in here, instead of the politicized name-callers? Would be a nice addition to this thread.
