Is this the first death that was NOT reported as "who had been hospitalized?"

Cases will always increase. They will never go down. Getting closer to herd immunity as they rise.

Agreed. At some point we'll have to change our approach to Covid to the same way we deal with the flu. Preach good practices like washing hands, get a vaccine if available, and go about our lives. We can't just shut everything down all the time.

Agreed, and only 70% of the US would be required to be infected for herd immunity to be effective. We're on our way!

No, there have been a few others.
"If you will not fight for right when you can easily win without blood shed; if you will not fight when your victory is sure and not too costly; you may come to the moment when you will have to fight with all the odds against you and only a precarious chance of survival. There may even be a worse case. You may have to fight when there is no hope of victory, because it is better to perish than to live as slaves." - Sir Winston Churchill

Actually it is no where close to 70% needed.

Most experts say it is between 20% and 50% at most.

We must be looking at different experts...but okay. We're still not close to that.

No, some people are suggesting HIT might be lower than the typical epidemiological standard of 60-70% for a pathogen with this one's transmissibility.

It's an idea that's beginning to get investigation, but only just that. The reason why it might be lower is still a frothy topic of debate.

"Starting as early as Monday, September 21st, businesses in those regions where COVID-19 hospitalizations make up less than 15% of all hospitalizations can increase capacity from 50% to 75%.

That includes all restaurants, offices, retail stores, manufacturing facilities, museums, libraries and gyms."

So totally not a big deal that BHCD doesn't disclose hospitalizations anymore.

It's not a big deal though. It's by region not county so we're still getting those numbers and they are well below low enough for us to open.

I was at H-E-B yesterday and there were three people with no masks, including a lady who had her kids. Will be interesting to see if the trend continues.

When the total is small, it doesn't take much to move the percentage.

new cases in decline.

active cases in decline.

hospitalizations (aside from last reported) dramatically in decline regionally.

All this WITH +/- 40K students in town.

Hard to not believe we would be done with this already if we had just stayed the course in March/April.

keep living, going to work, going to school, playing sports, spending money locally (in general).

"We," instead, went into hiding, cried the sky is falling, informed on our neighbors, and, in the process, obediently wrecked our economy.
