One of the Brazos County District Courts has now shut down due to COVID-19 exposure. Not good!
Looks pretty much like what I was expecting.lockett93 said:

29 In the Hospital (+4, -2)

77807 +1

77840 +30
77845 +21
Looks like most cases are still in the under 30 crowd.
Not sure about changes in cluster/travel/community as again the graph didn't change in the English one, but the Spanish one did. Travel looks to have gone up, a pretty big jump and the first big change in a while.

From what I've heard, they're testing anyone who have had contact with a confirmed case, someone who was tested after showing symptoms. A lot of the people being tested due to contact are coming back positive, but either asymptomatic or very mild cases. This has resulted in multiple cases where residences with 4, 5, 6+ roommates all testing positive for it, but none being sick. Testing is readily available in Brazos County. All of the hospitals and their affiliated clinics can usually test someone same day or next day at the latest. Same for most of the urgent care places. If someone has had contact with a known case, that is all it takes to get in to get tested.lockett93 said:
I know of some counselors and campers from pine cove that have tested positive. That would be travel related.
Also, if the test is administered in another county, is the test recorded among our tests? We know the positive case is supposed to be by county of residence.
I'm surprised at the number of young people being tested if prior information was that most young people are asymptomatic. If asymptomatic and being tested I would assume that's a cluster related test... but BCHD would never tell!
Number of tests is just what is reported to the BCHD in the last 24 hours. This is why there are often 0 new tests on Sunday and sometimes Monday. Then there is a big jump in tests when the numbers play catch up.Quote:

Also, how on earth are they saying 41 test in all of Brazos county? That's absurd
Yes. A recent post on Nextdoor said that 2 of the 3 locations are closed until further notice due to an employee testing positive. Only the Texas Ave location is open.Quote:
I'm guessing Discount Tire in a South College Station had an issue. They were closed with a sign about cleaning for customer safety.

In Monday it was only 37 total (Brazos County + surrounding counties) so it has only increased by 5 as of today if the total is now 42.FlyRod said:
I think the 27 are local and the rest from surrounding rural areas? That's a big increase regardless.

Yeah plus people with COVID tend to have long residence times in the hospital/ICU. What worries me is not our status today, but the fact that we have 2-3 weeks worth of cases in the pipeline that aren't realized yet. The lag time with this makes it sketchy.
Average ICU stay has been 5-7 days for most CV patients. Some people are only in the hospital for a day or two. Also, not all CV patients are in ICU. Some only require oxygen therapy for a few days and are not put into ICU.MBAR said:

Because they take this seriously and the young people do not.
Wear your masks!
You'd be surprised how many older people do not wear masks when out in public. They also don't go out in public as much as younger people, be it for work (many are retired), grocery store, or even to socialize. They often gather at homes rather than going to public places with large groups.ColonelCoinCollector said:

Yes, this is something that was never talked about in reference to the hispanic numbers in here last month either. Its not parties but the fact that a lot of these demographics make up those who have to work.trouble said:ColonelCoinCollector said:

They also have the luxury of being able to stay home and many young people have to work. A good number of those in jobs that can't be done remotely.
