MiMi do you happen to know if the state accepts the results of home tests? I figured they are not included in what's reported but was curious if they were accepted or not.
I do not believe there is any process in place for folks to submit at home test results. I've had several multiple at-home tests performed in my household - with both positive and negative results - and none were reported. For some of the tests, there were follow-up PCR tests, so those that were positive were eventually counted as confirmed cases.

Curious about that drop off in testing. I know home test availability has had an impact, but for students those things can't be that affordable.

Why get tested if you're not sick, and why get tested if your symptoms are more likely to be allergies?

This isn't 2020 were the virus was treated as airborne Ebola (which it still is by some) and everyone was getting tested for any reason at all, or for no reason other than their fear.
"If you will not fight for right when you can easily win without blood shed; if you will not fight when your victory is sure and not too costly; you may come to the moment when you will have to fight with all the odds against you and only a precarious chance of survival. There may even be a worse case. You may have to fight when there is no hope of victory, because it is better to perish than to live as slaves." - Sir Winston Churchill

University policies no longer strongly encourage testing. In fall of 20 And spring of 21, they were doing random testing of students. Get an email and go test. Plus there was strong pressure to test if exposed. The isolation policy allowed students to exit isolation 10 days after a positive test, but requires 14 day isolation without a positive test.

some students were testing so much in fall 20 that they instituted limits on the number of tests per week for spring '21.

I believe the university still had a mandatory test for on campus students moving in fall of 21, but don't think they bothered anymore for spring of '22.

At this point, if you don't have symptoms, no need to test. Plus why test if mild symptoms? Get stuck in isolation and miss class for a week if you are positive or just consider your stuffy nose as "allergies" and keep going to class. The only reason to actually test at this point is if you need to miss class and need it excused.

Makes sense, but there was a lot of testing in early 2022January and February based on Nosmo's data, and there were no requirements then.

Curious about that drop off in testing. I know home test availability has had an impact, but for students those things can't be that affordable.

A lot is relative. Looks at last August/Sept with the mandatory testing to return to living on campus where they did 20k+ tests a week. Jan/Feb was a few thousand. However, at home tests were not available in stores as many tested before and after visiting friends/family for Christmas. So a fraction of students come back and get tested as the omicron wave is peaking. Plus, the only "free" at homes were those shipped from the govt in late Feb.

Now, at home testing is widely available and covered by insurance. And the university is distributing them as well.

Anyone know if the university cut back on the in person COVID testing sites? I don't recall seeing any when I was last on campus, but didn't specifically look and wasn't really where the testing sites were before.

The Mays kiosk is still functioning, as is the Rudder one.
