That's gotta be a mistake. No reason to have anyone on a ventilator outside of ICU right now.

Although we don't have information on specific variant proportions for local or even individual states, according to the CDC, the US is currently estimated at 72% BA.2 variant, and the Texas region is 67% BA.2.

https://covid.cdc.gov/covid-data-tracker/#variant-proportions

4/6/22
Correction:

"don't have information on specific variant proportions for local or even individual states" was incorrect. The state reports on a state level, but it is typically a week later than the CDC. The numbers are revised each week for several weeks. Apparently it takes several weeks to get a decent sample size and that creates a lot of revisions and delayed reporting.

I noticed today (4/6) that Texas is now reporting 78% BA.2 as of March 26. The CDC report is through April 2.

https://www.dshs.texas.gov/coronavirus/variants-data.aspx

Sorry for the confusion. Websites are being updated with new/different information all the time and I missed the state's reporting.

Until they revise down. With Omicron, they got up to 73% mid December (and used that number to justify pulling the antibody therapies). Then they revised the number down to 23%. Hopefully they don't do that again.

I would love to be able to separate out first and second boosters! However, the state's dashboard seems to be lumping them all under 'People with Booster Dose' currently. I'm hoping they'll divide them up at some point in the near future.

MiMi do you happen to know if the state accepts the results of home tests? I figured they are not included in what's reported but was curious if they were accepted or not.

The at home tests are antigen tests which were only ever considered "probable cases" not "confirmed cases". Not sure how one would account for at home tests as they are even less reliable than a lab administered antigen test.
