Has there been ANY public input into this cluster?
The Hwy. 21/I-35 interchange isn't listed because it's a continuous flow intersection, not a DDI. It's similar, but in a CFI, the left hand turn lane is the one that crosses over, whereas the DDI it's the main lanes that cross over.LOYAL AG said:
If you've been through the interchange at HWY 21 and I-35 in San Marcos this is similar to what they did there and it's worked extremely well. The DDI website (yes an interchange design has it's own website) doesn't list that interchange I'm guessing because they didn't do it completely but that's the design from west bound 82 onto south bound 35 and into town.

I asked above: what public input was sought? And when?
We didn't win the American Revolution just to start building roundabouts!sunshine1 said:
Why not put in a big roundabout in that area?
Yeah ... no thanksQuote:
Half of the world's roundabouts are in France (more than 30,000 as of 2008), although the United Kingdom has more as a proportion of the road than any other country
That's work.GSS said:
Several media reports stated "work will begin Monday, Mar 6".......yet early this afternoon zero/zip/nothing was taking place around the intersection.
It did look like some signs for eastbound Hwy 60 traffic were going up, near the Easterwood/Turkey Creek exchange.
So during the closure, someone traveling eastbound on FM60, desiring to go south on FM2818 ??? Take the F&B road detour to Wellborn Rd, then head south on Wellborn? Yikes!
It's not as bad as you make it sound, but it definitely would have been easier before the recent & ongoing developments on Rock Prairie West, etc. Here's a sample alignment that ties into existing roads, which would be widened, of course (warning, huge image):Stupe said:"Take out a few house"75AG said:
Go around Easterwood, the fireman's training center, take out a few houses, give some old land owners some money. And voila! Less traffic on 2818.
1. The only place that you could start would be where 47 hits Welborn Rd
2. There aren't a "few houses" in the way, there are neighborhoods expensive house on land.
3. This is such a stupid and unrealistic idea that I can't believe that I'm actually having a discussion about it.

The activity will progress as follows:
Monday, March 6 construction prep and signage deployment begins
Wednesday, March 8 Friday, March 10 - various lane closures from 8 p.m. until 6 a.m. to install a storm drain
Beginning at 11:59 p.m. Friday night, March 10 through 6 a.m. Monday, March 20, FM 60 (Raymond Stotzer Pkwy) will be COMPLETELY CLOSED from Turkey Creek Road to Research Parkway to allow for a full depth pavement reconstruction. EXPECT SIGNIFICANT DELAYS. AVOID THIS AREA.

I'm not sure why you're directing that at me since I haven't said whether I'm for or against this project.75AG said:
Two years of construction for a problem that could be fixed with 4 traffic lights.
You and everyone else. They have had the ROW for 30 years to make 2818 "freeway" with frontage roads but the money hasn't been there - especially for the grade separations.AGnCS said:
Looks like this was probably the best solution considering the resources available and without creating a bunch of hugely expensive flyover ramps.
I still wish something could be done about 2818/Hollemann.
The city council doesn't plan hearings based on whether or not TAMU or Blinn students will be around to show up.threecatcorner said:
public hearing conveniently timed for just after spring graduation so all students who aren't here year-round will have already left town for the summer
At 4:15 there's a white car that turns left from onto George Bush from the right turn lane into the left lane on Bush.TexasAggie_02 said:
lol, TxDOT knows BCS drivers all too well
I think the reason it works well there is 90% of the traffic on 21/80 is turning on 35. It speeds up left turns, so it makes sense there. Unfortunately, it is not the same for 60. A much higher percentage of traffic proceeds straight into town rather than turning on 2818.LOYAL AG said:PS3D said:The Hwy. 21/I-35 interchange isn't listed because it's a continuous flow intersection, not a DDI. Interesting and good to know. I knew it wasn't identical but it looked similar. I do know that what they did there is significantly better than what was here.
