Big mistake by "mom" interjecting herself into this situation. There's no way she has anywhere near the information that police have and it looks almost foolish to make public statements about "what's really going on".

I admire her for supporting her kids and I'd be doing the same thing, however in no way would I be serving up my opinions in the media until I knew all the facts from *both* sides....if I did offer them at all.

From the get go I felt that the media bringing the parents' names into this, while not necessarily wrong, was unnecessary. Given my original thoughts on this it's almost jawdropping to watch one of them jump into it front and center.

Let the facts come out in the trial, then go to battle and fight like hell for your kids if things don't seem on the up and up. The media is not the place to defend them in a situation like this....all the public sees are statements that appear biased, contrived and disingenuous.

Agreed. Your character and will are going to be tested in a time when family members are under fire, especially your kids, but you can't be goaded into joining the circus.

I should add that I thought Tom Turbiville's initial public comments on this matter were outstanding and couldn't have been handled better. I thought to myself that his example was the best way to handle a very difficult situation should I ever be faced with a similar one.

I think all of us would jump in front of a train for our kids, the Turbivilles included. But you can't start trying to convince people the train is to blame until it's open to public examination.

My dad, a WWII veteran, was Tom's first two-part interview on "Veterans of the Valley." Tom spent several hours at our home getting to know my dad, hearing his story, looking at his amazing military history library and his memorabilia. Then they taped the show at KAMU. Tom gave us copies of the preliminary tapes as well as a DVD of the show. It was the best interview I have ever seen with my dad.

I called Tom when we found out that Daddy was terminal and failing fast. Tom dropped everything and came to see him that afternoon. I sat in on their visit and was so pleased to see that Tom had his digital recorder perched on his knee. It was the last coherent visit that anyone had with Daddy. A few days later, he was gone.

I imposed one more time on Tom and asked him to deliver the eulogy. Without hesitation he simply said, "I'd be honored." The precious treasures of those interviews that Tom has given to me, my children and grandchildren have been multiplied hundreds of times over for all of the other veterans Tom has interviewed. I am comforted in knowing that my dad's great-grandchildren and the generations to come will always be able to "know" my dad, thanks to Tom.

This entire community owes Tom a debt of gratitude for his dedication to our veterans. The very least we can do in return is to afford Tom and his family the privacy they so desperately need at this time. There, but for the grace of God, go I.

I doubt this will be anything of the size it is being played up right now. Guessing that it is totally overblown in demension.

We will know if powerful people are on the list by how quickly/quitely this gets resolved. Law enforcement doesn't care about prostitution, especially high priced prostitution, except for the tax aspect of it.

What's amazing to me is this issue is kept alive here much more than the local TV station. Leave it alone and it goes away. It's so simple!
