Anyone have any recommendations? Does anyone know anything about Leafguard or the Truss system? Can someone give me an idea of how much money per linear foot we're talking?

Thanks.

Just got an estimate from leaf guard last week.
They are pricey! My house is one story and they quoted me a price of just over $6500. That's $6500 for approximately 75% of the house!

Similar to leaf guard, a little cheaper, we paid $4000 for a 2,500 sf one story house. Still pricey, but with lifetime warranty, etc. I decided to take the hit.

We got regular seamless gutters on about 95% of our house for about $700 or so. I can put leaf guards on them for about another 100 or so. $4,000 seems outrageous, but they are kind of cool.

I came to this board to post this exact question. Weird. Any recommendations in The Woodlands/Houston area? MasterAggie, who did you use? What product do they install?

I have a 2300 sqft - two story.

I agree with Master. Seamless gutters are a snap to do yourself. Go to Lowe's or Home Depot for the materials and save thousands. You can install a clip-in leafguard like system after the fact for pretty cheap. If you can use a drill and some tin snips, you can do it.

Bird,

How do you do seamless? Don't you need a fabricating machine? I have one really long run (across the entire back of the house). I'd have to piece together sections purchased from Lowes, which wouldn't be seamless.

Seamless Home Products in College Station did mine for that price.

Yes, sorry. On the seamless, whomever you purchase the materials from will have to send the installers out with the bending machines to fabricate onsite. You can still save lots of money buying materials only.

Thanks. I have $1,000 set aside for the project, meaning I told my wife that's what I thought it would cost. $4,000 is nuts!

I have gutters currently, but they leak due to sagging and the fact that they aren't seamless. I could re-slope the messed up ones and caulk the seams, but I'd rather start over.

Putting in your own leaf guards are a waste of money and time. When you put them in, you still have to clean the tops of the leaf guards off. If you don't, then the weight of the wet leaves, pine straw and tree debris will make them sag and collapse into your gutters.

The debris will then get under the leaf guard and now you have to get the leaves out from under them and they are already screwed in place. You will either have to take the leaf guards back off or slice up your hands when you reach underneath them.

So, either spend the money on a true "leafless" system (ie. Gutter Helmet or their competition) or don't put in the leaf guard screens and just clean your gutters out on a regular basis.

If you need a decent seamless aluminum gutter installer then call Erlix Guitierrez @ 281 250 5451. He does work for good custom home builders all over Houston.

Make sure to ask for real gutter outlets to feed the downspouts instead of the cheap way of just cutting a jagged holes in the gutter that feed the downspouts.

5.0" gutters are standard. If your house is really steep and / or you have long runs of gutter collecting water run-off from large elevations of the roof, then go for the 6.0" gutters.

Also, use "hidden hangers" instead of spikes and ferrules. Spikes and ferrules don't work to where becuase of they loosen due to the vibration during bad rain storms.

Make sure you gutter installer advises you of any rotten fascia once the gutters are pulled off. That must be replaced and painted prior to installing gutters or the new gutters will just fall off.

If you want to go upscale and do the copper gutters then you are going to have to drop some serious money and get someone that knows what they are doing.
