Congrats! I came across javelina on two mule deer hunts at BBRSP. One squadron on each hunt. Get up high and glass, glass, glass.

I did the gun hunt a couple years ago.

Best advice is get a capable e-bike.

Place is very big with very limited vehicle access. e-bike can separate you from the crowds that will cluster around the main road. Bonus for archery is they open up more areas that the gun hunts are not allowed. I can tell you things NOT to do.

We picked up Neches NWR on the 2nd draw....so fall just got real interesting with plenty of draws left.

As mentioned above, we got drawn for the Devils Sinkhole youth hunt. Having a hard time finding a decent/cool place to stay near there. I did find a place on the Nueces near Barksdale but it's a 40 minute drive. There is a hotel of some sort in Rocksprings but not wanting a hotel. Everything else seems to be booked Nov 20-23.

Anyone have any ideas or know of a place I'm missing?

You're going to be limited when it comes to decent/cool places near Devils Sinkhole. If I ever get drawn there, I'm finding a place to stay in Rocksprings whether it be one of the two motels in town or guest housea few popped up on a Google search.

Year 22 no draw at chap gde. Maybe 19 years is enough for exotic? Just hoping me and the old man get drawn before he is physically unable to do a hunt…..pretty sure it's all a scam at this point.

I happened to be researching Seminole Canyon hunts last night. Not a lot on the interwebs about it. Who knows what the auodad numbers are like, they may just throw that in there.

Was not anticipating a winning draw, was just building points. I could not find anything either, but it is relatively close (in a Southwest Texas way) to Devil's River SNA. And the SNA is lousy with aoudads. Supposedly there are aoudads running around Lake Amistad too.

Don't know, but I'm not shooting a doe or spike and hauling it back to Dallas.

Cool Video

I think that was at Devils River SNA.

He said they had 3 units around 3000 acres. Seminole is only 2000 acres total. His other clues are the long gravel road in to the ranger station and the distance to Del Rio.

I did that hunt in 2019. Hope to get the chance to do it again

The is an outfitter in Comstock close to the State Park that does aoudad hunts. Might give him a call and ask about Seminole canyon.

I snagged Balcones Canyonlands NWR Gun Deer. I think I only had around 4-5 points. Unfortunately, I don't think I can see after the fact.

Had a good year so far with draws. My daughter drew JD Murphree Alligator and pulled a biggun out of there, and we also drew Laguna Atascosa Archery.

I drew Gun Deer, Early December, Aransas NWR.

Anyone ever hunted out there? Quick desktop research leads me to believe mosquitos will be terrible and its covered up with snakes.

Curious if anyone has personal experience with it, tips and tricks, etc.

It's a pretty incredible area. I've never hunted there but have camped and hiked. I have seen Javelina, there pretty blind so getting close enough wont the the issue, just being lucky enough to find some will be the trick.

I have hunted there quite a bit but it has been several years. By that time of the year mosquitoes should not be a problem. Always hunted right before Thanksgiving and by then there is usually cooler weather. When you scout you will see trails all over the place and think that killing a deer will be easy. Think again. Hogs are everywhere. For a while I found a honey hole and killed deer several years in a row but then other people also found it. Tough hunting

Describe this honey hole for me... perhaps by using GPS coordinates or a map

Do you think a pop-up ground blind is suitable or should I make other arrangements? Somewhere I saw mentioned its covered up in snakes so you might want to get up off the ground...

It's been at least 10 years so I really cann't recall. You need to be off the ground. With the July rains I imagine the grass is quite tall so you need to be up in the air.
