Anyone else NOT seeing fawns on camera? This is my first full year with cameras out (started first week of last September), so not sure if this is normal or not.

I haven't seen one pop up on camera around any feeder that has a pen around it yet. I think that is mostly because the brush is so dang high everywhere it is hard to pick them up. Maybe the same thing is going on with you?

When I was out two weekends ago, virtually every doe I saw had a fawn. It looks like the best fawn crop we have had in at least 10 years or so.

Pigs at are our place are usually nocturnal. But I'm getting daylight pics morning and evening everyday.

Pretty crazy, but 6 hours after I made this post, I got a picture of a doe with her fawn come through on my phone from this morning.

That's good!

Hunting in OK has always intrigued me but season turns me away. How have you dealt with the season length?

I bowhunt for 3.5 months. If I feel like cheating a little or have a spot where I need a little more range, I'll break out the crossbow which I'm not too proud to use although mostly I hunt w my compound.

Our lease is 2000 acres and the 5 guys who hunt it are from texas and only bowhunt except for the manager who will break out the muzzleloader a time or two simply bc he has a lifetime OK hunting license even though he has lived in Texas for a couple of decades. Short gun seasons and high out of state license costs discourage most of rifle hunting. But that leads to more older deer running around.

This guy was a weak g4 10 last two seasons, been looking for him. This year at 6 years old he's a donkey 8. Bet he's over 200#

Same deer last season. Make him minimum 5, maybe 6 this year. As much as we can ever hope for around here.

How are y'all able to tell with so much certainty that you're seeing the same deer? I think I've maybe identified one deer that's the same as one I had been seeing last year, but this is the first full year of using cameras for me.

I keep thousands of pictures of deer in my phone plus videos of them live. Once you key in on a few characteristic about their antlers, it's not too hard. Couple that with patterns that are usually predictable the older they get and it's not hard to tell.

However, I have multiple cell cams out and probably get 100-200 pics a day so it stays pretty fresh on my mind.

Somerville. Deer on the river tend to be a little lighter in body and mass.

No. The deer on the river just tend to be genetically lighter in both antlers and body.

Didn't you say in a previous post that you didn't think the river bottom deer attained much age? Or at least you didn't witness it? Maybe flukes?

That's what I had heard on the flukes. Ive had a lot of big bucks disappear during the off season at 4 to 5 years old. Only one in about seven years of ownership that I could confirm at 6+. I have 20+ different bucks on camera every year. And my neighbors don't really hunt.

Deer on the left is the most promising up and comer I've seen on my section of the lease. I believe he's only a 2 year old mainframe 9 with a few kickers already. Gonna be a real stud if he makes it a 2-3 more years.

Was looking at your pic thinking the same thing, before reading your text. G2 kickers as a 2yo! Hopefully people pass him up.
