Any chance he is using it to show a residence in a specific neighborhood to get his kids into a certain set of schools? The couple that bought our house in Houston was keeping an address in Memorial just to make sure their kids could go to Memorial HS, though they actually lived mostly elsewhere.

Maybe? We are zoned to the flagship HS in the district but they could have bought a 300k house about 3 miles away and achieved that vs this home. I can't see that being why.

See other comments about investments. Perhaps this was just a better investment property than the $300K houses. Maybe the speeding truck guy was just using the house as a honey hole and was late getting back to work.

Making this a much bigger deal than it should be. Wealthy people and real estate investors buy properties all the time and don't use them like we'd expect.

Could be he needed to identify a property quickly for a 1031. Could be he needs an address for school. Or for political office. Or to establish residency in a state without income tax. Or a place close to kids/grandkids. Could be he needs to show a loss on a tax return.

Little funny story about Prosper; I only knew it was in Dallas area.

Back in Sept during a dove hunt my cousin mentioned they have a house up there they stay at when they visit their daughter and if I ever wanted to spend the night during our out of state hunting trips, just let them know.

Fast forward to a month ago, sure enough, it would would be nice to breakup our drive to Neb and I asked him and its fine. Leaving home I was a bit worried about leaving all the hunting gear in the bed of the truck until I turned into the neighborhood... uh, yea, no worries. I doubt anyone in those homes is going to steal a bunch of goose decoys.

This.

Your idea, and mine, of what constitutes a lot of money or large investment is definitely not equal for everyone.

Working as a realtor and home inspector in DFW for a long time I have seen people drop amounts of money that make my head swim without a second thought. Pay cash for things I cannot imagine. Buy and hold stuff for years because they might want to build something there.

That being said, reckless driving and disrupting the neighborhood is a totally different discussion.

Yep.

We had a rental two doors down about 20 years ago. Talked to the realtor who sold it and he said an African doctor bought it cash. He would come to the states once a year and buy a home. His way of stashing his money in a safe place. Which makes sense compared to wherever he was from.

Dude... that is a crappy little house on a scrappy little lot in a scrappy little neighborhood. It is is the equivalent of white trailer trash

Hell, tell me that aint the 2026 version of a double wide trailer... trailer trash. Best i can tell, prosper aint anything but trailer trash with money.

Possibly a 1031exchange property to park money somewhere stable while searching or waiting for the next target deal.

It is in fact not the 2026 version of a double wide. Because the 2026 version of a double wide is still very much a double wide. And there is nothing scrappy or hood about that house or neighborhood. You are out of touch.

Long story short, a neighbor down the street sold their home about a year ago. When they sold, I asked him who they were to see who our new friend could be.

He said "not sure. Some guy."

Fast forward a year, and no one has moved in. The property is marginally maintained (lawn mowed, pool serviced, etc.) but no one lives there.

About a month ago, we noticed a little bit of activity. Saw a Tahoe park outside. Louisiana plates (we're in north Texas). Trash cans were put out for the first time in a year.

Next day, Tahoe gone, trash cans put up by me (just rolled them into the driveway) about 5 days later.

Last week I saw a guy getting into an uber with a suitcase in the middle of the day. No cars parked outside. No more activity.

Today, an unlicensed plate Raptor comes screaming down our neighborhood street, turns around, comes by our house, and then goes back to this house and parks.

Driver was so reckless our UPS driver called the cops to report it. (My wife was out front with the kids when this happened).

Now, there's a different car out front.

Property is owned by a newly formed LLC.

Can one of our PI's do some sleuthing for me and figure out who these joker(s) are?

FWIW, this is a $1.3mm home with a pool… that no one stays in. So weird. And now somewhat unsettling.

There is a WMC Properties TX, LLC and a WMC Properties, LLC. The former shows the Campbell dude as the registered agent and the registered agent (sometimes) is the attorney that did the formation paperwork. You said the home was sold about a year ago but is owned by a newly formed LLC. The CAD deed records online should show who transferred the property into the newly formed LLC.

Massive change of subject here.

What constitutes a white trash neighborhood?

And what constitutes a non-white trash neighborhood?

Geeze. What is with the hate in this thread?

Outdoors board has changed for sure.

I come asking for some help (that I've received before) about some unusual behavior at a house on my street.

Next thing it turns into calling my neighborhood white trash, foreclosures, "I wouldn't live there". Lots of good Ags in this "hood". Many of which post on TexAgs.

Thanks everyone.

Staff - go ahead and delete thread.

I wouldn't live there but not because it's isn't fairly nice. The house is certainly way better than mine. It is because there is an HOA, privacy fencing, and I couldn't safely and legally shoot a rifle off my porch if I wanted to.

Don't mind the haters. I don't know that poster and there is no way he wasn't trying to make a joke…like how we see a Bentley with untinted windows and call them "lolpoor". If the poster wasn't serious then he's just nuts and that's not unusual either.

Don't sweat it. If a big house with a pool and a fuggin' putting green in it is white trash, then sign me up for the white trash country club because they seem to be doin' alright to me.

Im there with you BQ. To me it is nothing more than a high dollar trailer park.

In the 90s I lived in a duplex in College Station on a cul-de-sac. A bunch of little crap shacks built in the 70s. I wrote my check to a property manager and never asked any questions. I moved out eventually. When the county finally put all the CAD data online I went and looked up who owned it. It was some guy with a Japanese name and a Hawaii mailing address. He owned about 80% of the duplexes on that cul-de-sac. I looked recently, and he had sold them all off a couple of years ago.

Lots of out of towners sell when the valuations get ridiculous. When it starts taking more than four months of rent to pay property taxes it's time to sell.

It was kind of surprising place considering College Station has tons of rental property and college students. I lived in it for about six years as a single professional because the rent was cheap and they took care of maintenance including landscaping. After my original lease expired I was month-to-month (about 5-1/2 years), and I think the rent only went up once in that whole time.

Having a good tenant that pays on time every month and isn't calling management every other week to fix something tickytack is worth way more than an extra $50-100/ month.

Nice humble brag on the home value though.

"As an aside, totally unrelated, but I just wanted to let yall know I live next to a $1.3 million house. Take that for what it's worth."

That's not as much of a brag as it used to be! Still nice, though.
