Buy they best 30 cal can on Pew Science that fits your budget. Then decide what length and weight you can tolerate. From there we can help with mounting systems. I like hub mounting with Rearden plan B.

As another poster mentioned, .223/5.56 just doesn't suppress well at all, no matter the suppressor. Be aware that you may be disappointed if you're expecting a major noise reduction if your DD is in one of those chamberings.

Then you will do what most of us have done and buy uppers or complete rifles that suppress better and end up with more ARs. Then you'll need a bigger safe. It's a domino effect that is a real issue.

.300 blk, 6.5 Grendel, 6.8 SPC, and even 7.62 x 39 suppress way better than .223/5.56. I'm talking about standard/supersonic loads.

As for brands, I've got a SiCo 7.62 Saker and a Dead Air nomad (also 7.62/.30 cal). They have a titanium nomad now and that's probably what I would go with for my specific needs, but I need a .30 cal rated can. Both of mine have been excellent. I run them on QD mounts so they are easy to swap from weapon to weapon. More expense in those QD set ups but I really like the set up. Here's a shot of the Saker from this weekend on my son's Savage Axis II.

What size suppressor should I use for a 6.5 Grendel?

.30 Cal cans (7.62) for 6.5 Grendel.

With a 6.5mm end cap you mean?

Not necessary, but if you only use it on that one gun caliber then it can be beneficial to sound and accuracy.

Highly recommend reading any and every review you can on pewscience and listening his podcast "the jay situation" to learn more about suppressors if you're like me and didn't know squat before you started buying.

Everything is going to be a compromise of some sort. For example: Inconel cans are heavier, but don't spark at night like titanium and can hold up to more rigorous firing schedules. But if you want a can for your hunting rifle, you dont care about either durability during full auto or want a heavy can so a direct thread titanium can might serve you much better.

Longer/larger cans are potentially quieter, but that depends heavily on the technology used, the weapon its on, the ammo you're using, etc. Again, refer to pewscience for some info on this kind of stuff.

First round pop may or may not be an issue for you. some cans do it it better than others.

Some cans are finicky on semi auto hosts and require tuning because of being either high or low backpressure.

on and on.

If you're in Central Texas, you're welcome to try any of my cans on anything I own to get a feel for some of the options you have (and you can then compare how they were in person to how a can on the pewscience rankings table is if its one of my can types that has been tested by them)

I bought a Q Trash Panda but I can't provide any review because it's still in jail

Will put it on a rifle chambering 300 blackout and buy some subsonic ammo to see how quiet it actually can get

I bought a Trash Panda a couple of years ago for my 30-06. It has been great so far. It moved my zero down almost 2" but did not affect my sub MOA groupings. I really like the design where you do not get carbon in the threads.

It is my only suppressor so I really do not have anything to compare it to.

If a deer is armed like that, I assume you can shoot it even in the offseason? Self defense?

My son is 13 and like most teenagers, loathes being photographed. But he wanted a picture of his doe w his rifle, so that's how it turned out. Tried the cross body pose, rifle across the torso, w head and neck tucked up but that wasn't working so this was the end result.

But the self defense story is much better!

Can't really recco any specific suppressor but be warned of two things!

1) Suppressors are addictive. You will think you can just get one and swap between rifles, and all of a sudden you have several rifles with dedicated cans!

2) Unless you are doing direct thread keep in mind the mounting system that the suppressor uses. I started with a Griffin Bushwhacker 36 as a universal suppressor for .300BLK pistol, 6.5 Grendel rifle, and 9mm PCC. And got a few GA Plan A taper mounts. Kind of "married" to Griffin cans now with those rifles/pistols due to muzzle devices being so expensive.

on 5.56 it is more of a sound "reducer" than a suppressor. But on a 300BLK shooting subs, suppressor is stupid quiet.

I have 2 Dead Air Nomads, Sandman-S, Sandman and 2 Omega 30s. All are fantastic with no issues.

I think the cherry bomb muzzle device for the Q suppressors is only about $100. LGS guy seemed to indicate that I will be able to just slap a cherry bomb on my next rifle and swap the trash panda between my plinking/ hog rifle chambering 300blk and my next hog / deer rifle chambering something heftier. Is that the case? Sorry, I am super novice.

My Trash Panda came with two cherry bomb mounts, one for my AR and one for my Remington 700. It easily interchanges between the two.

Here is one review that had me pick up the aero lahar30 over something more expensive. Plenty of data in the link.

https://www.reddit.com/r/suppressors/comments/14g55bj/new_sound_signature_review_aero_precision_lahar30/?rdt=43656

Check out the data and analysis. You're hitting KAC QDSS-NT4, Q Trash Panda, YHM Turbo levels of performance here on the MK18, and you're doing it in a 6 inch long package. And guys, it's beating the Nomad and the Helios QD in pure signature severity. And, the signatures are consistent like those two complex over-bored silencers - the Lahar-30 is taming the secondary combustion of the 10.3 inch barrel very consistently. I am telling you, the surprises keep coming with Aero. Check out the data.

That's essentially the idea. Cherry Bomb threading is technically called "Plan B"

Rearden makes a Plan B alternative that is compatible with cherry bombs. So you don't have to be tied to just Q muzzle devices or QD adaptors.

They make some that are smaller and lighter.

I have Rearden or Q plan B devices on a majority of my guns and suppressors so they are interchangeable.
