Curios if anyone recommends an outfitter for a mountain lion hunt?

OP - there is a poster on this board, haven't seen him in a while, that hunts lions in CO or NM I think. User name is BradMtn something or other....

Haven't seen any posts from him in a while but he's posted a bunch of threads of successful DIY lion hunts. Use the search engine, search only the OB forum, use the title only option, and include the term lion or mountain lion and you'll find him. Bump that thread and someone can reach out to him using the PM function for you (if he has stars on his account).

Serious answer. These guys are the best guides in Colorado. They have a contract to capture and tag for state. So they get their dogs experience year round.

I am leaving for a Lion hunt in northern Idaho on Saturday. I will report back on how the outfitter turns out.

B/B Ranch Hounds, the best in the business. Amazing dry ground dogs. They hunt all over SWTX, NM, CO, UT and AZ. They skin out LOTS of bears and lions every year. Ross Blackwelder and the Banner Brothers Cole and Wyatt are their names and definitely the outfit I'd go with, they are all great dudes too.

It snowed yesterday. I found a good bobcat tract today, but I didn't have time to run it. Maybe tomorrow after I feed cows.

Feel free to send me a PM for more details but my first call would be to Elite Western Outfitters in Utah. I shot a giant with him in 2022 and he consistently kills huge cats.

Hounds that can run a cat on dry ground are men amongst boys. It takes a hell of a dog to do that.

Good deal. I know the Banner boys and Ross Blackwelder very well and have hunted with them multiple times. Watched their dogs tree plenty of game. I wouldn't recommend them if I hadn't hunted with them before. They are damn good houndsmen and guys.

I was born and raised in Iraan Tx and watched the B&B Ranch Hounds boys grow up. They are the best I've seen.They have worked my ranch and I highly recommend them to anyone.

Have killed Mountain Lion and Continental Black Bear with them. Beautiful country, nice folks, great hunting. Fantastic food, great bar, as well.

OP - I'd listen to this guy.

I see now that proper protocol for shooting a lion involves picking up and bear hugging the dead cat for a picture.
