My son and I will be back in Mills Co this evening.
He shot this 8 point during youth weekend, so we're looking for spikes and does now.

Hoping to put my son on this buck this afternoon.
Switched to Burleson county. Got some buddies in from La. looking for some does or Ive been getting sporadic pics of a couple real nice bucks. This morning, rattled in a young 6 and 8 from opposite directions. They met in the middle for a minor rumble. Everything is still on post oak acorns and very slow. They're almost done dropping but the ground is covered.

Son got an 8 pointer out in Edwards County this afternoon.
Saw three young bucks tapping horns. One walked 10 yards from me without noticing while I was creeping to the stand this afternoon. That's after smelling like BBQ smoke from BBQ'n all day. Must be a good odor cover!
McCulloch County this morning. Good looking buck on camera late last night so at least I've got a target buck to think about.
Erath county. Super moon was very cool last night and this morning almost felt daylight. Quite a bit of doe yesterday evening, chased off by a nice looking 8 around last light. Couple of fawns came out at first light.
Caldwell County this morning. Nice morning. Not a ton of activity….probably due to the full moon overnight. No need for a headlamp on the walk to the blind this morning.
Had a face off with the resident skunk that lives somewhere near my stand. Fortunately, the full moon allowed me to see him before the situation escalated.

It's the ZXT which I believe has some similarities to the Z7 extreme but slightly different. I bought it at Live Oak in Bryan sometime around 2015.
I'm with you, I don't have any reason to get something new.
Shot an old 8 point that needed to go last night in Mills County. 30-06 shot behind right front quarter. He was folded up about 50 yards away. Big body and will fill the freezer. Sometimes you have to use your buck tag on one that needs to go. Looking for a doe or spike tonight. Good luck to all in the woods tonight.
dusted off the old Marlin 336 today. Still shoots about 3moa. Decided to sit with it this evening. I haven't killed a deer with it in about 20 years, maybe more. I bought it in 1984 while I was at A&M. I don't really need another deer as I already have three does in the freezer. Maybe muy grande will step out.
I tagged out this year during bow season. Since then I have done nothing but drive the ranger around, take guys to stands, help clean/track/load deer, be camp cook, & drink coffee/whiskey in the woods with my guys.

I shot this one this morning in Belmont with a 257 WBY. Not high fenced and biggest buck I've ever taken. Scored it at 134. Happy Jamie and probably happier FIL.

I might need to service the ranger after today. She hauled two great whitetails this morning. Tonight she loaded up the first Aoudad we've ever harvested & I shot the biggest wild pig Ive ever seen.

Shooting aoudad rams is fun until someone wants to load it. Deadlifting a 275-300lb animal into the ranger is not a fun task, even with 2-3 people.

I have a rule with pigs that if I can't load it on my own, I just drag it off. Biggest I've been able to load is 146lbs.
The longer body and the horns make the aoudad much easier to grab though!

I would've rolled that boar into the ditch, but i wanted to weigh him (curiosity) & cut his head off for a euro. He's got good cutters.
