Didn't shoot anything, but what a great day! Got to watch some rut action, a coyote hunt mice, carcara ( idk if I spelled that right) vocalize while playing, and a hog scream louder that anything I've ever heard. Three bucks and one hot doe.
I'm in NW Leon county and it's pretty slow here too. Acorns raining down and covering the ground. Gonna be slow for awhile.BrownDeerAggie said:
Sat all day in hot & dry Leon County. Didn't see a deer. Long day to watch two armadillos.

His face looked happy in the pic. And honestly, I probably would be too. That's a good deer. Bet he looked huge coming out with that high rack.

Which county? Nice buck!!
Weird. The ranch I hunt straddles the Leon/Freestone county line. Just outside of Oakwood. I got in the stand about 1pm yesterday and started seeing deer almost immediately. About 1/2 mile north of the Leon County line. I shot a doe at about 2:30. I took my son out this evening to a different spot. He stood my blown over tripod up and got into it at 3:35. He shot a doe at 3:55.BrownDeerAggie said:
No one on our Leon County place saw a deer after two long days of hunting four stands. No neighbors shot either. I only heard three shots several miles away all weekend. Unbelievable! Too much acorns, wind, and heat.
