I'm going to be in NW Arkansas (Bentonville) for 4 days in mid October to visit our daughter. Any outdoor suggestions we can do with our 11 y/o lab? Day trips would be ideal since we have the dog.

Branson is an hour or so away.

Devils den state park, Hawksbill crag, many trails within Bentonville itself including an arboretum and botanical garden, fish the beaver tail water for trout, visit eureka spring and walk around town. I'm sure you can't bring your dog inside but crystal bridges art museum is a big attraction that is right in town in bentonvile. Go to a razorbacks game if they are in town.

The Arkansas Game & Fish Commission opened up a nature center in Springdale that has plenty to do.

Also, as mentioned, there are a lot of public trails to hike and/or bike. Beaver Lake has great fishing along with a number of other local streams and rivers. Roaring River fish hatchery is a great place to visit. You can fish and/or hike there as well.

Go to the Dam store at Beaver Lake White river discharge. Fly fish in the catch and release zone below dam.

That area might be the most underrated outdoor recreation part of the country.

Lots of public land (compared to surrounding states), camping, fishing, hiking, swimming, kayaking / boating, hunting, golf, to go along with beautiful scenery and nice weather.

Just got back from visiting some friends over in the Eureka Springs area. They have a house on Beaver Lake and we did a little stripper fishing one morning. It's not a great time of the year for strippers, but we still managed to catch 7-8 decent ones. You can rent a pontoon boat from Starkey Marina, if you want to get out on the water. It's a beautiful lake. Eureka Springs is a cool little town to check out. Walmart is in the middle of building a new HQ in Bentonville and it's massive, if you just wanted to drive by and check it out. I'd recommend hitting up Pedaler's Pub in Bentonville. Solid beers and great pizza/wings. Wright's BBQ is also very highly rated, but we didn't get a chance to hit it up. They have a few locations.

Thanks for all the suggestions!

My daughter works at Crystal Bridges so I've been there (fantastic museum). She lives across the street from Pedalar's Pub so I'm sure we will go there and walk to the square. Great little town. Hope it doesn't change too much, but I guess it already has. The Walmart headquarters is going to be unreal.

Eureka Springs is great. Downtown area is right out of the hill country. Little shops up and down the street.

Oh it's changing. I'm sure that home values have skyrocketed. There's construction taking place everywhere in the town.
