Confirmed this morning with another family we've skied with the last two spring breaks that we're going to run back on our trip to Santa Fe next spring. It's a great mountain for the kids, price is more tolerable than anywhere I'd want to go in Colorado or Utah. And it's driveable in a day. Been happy with the snow the last two years.

I've got a guys trip to Park city in February and trying to figure out a couples trip in January. I want my wife to have more time on the mountain without kids.

On the hunt for some early season/last season sticks. I demoed a pair of Nordica Enforcers that crushed but I'm also looking at some Rip sticks.

Where ya headed this year?

Guys trip to Telluride in early February and then heading to Deer Valley with my wife just before the spring break rush. Will be our first trip without kids, so looking forward to that! Hope the grandparents can manage...

Would love to sneak a third trip in, but not sure it will happen this year.

Taos for spring break. Maybe Steamboat after christmas. Will probably sneak a long weekend or 2 in somewhere.

Finally got my Epic account lined out and passes are in the mail. Looking forward to Breckenridge and early snow!

Taking the family to Purgatory for spring break. I haven't skied spring break in over 20 years so not looking forward to the crowds.

The last several years I've pulled the kids out of school for a week in February to go but they are getting to the age now where they have too many activities they would be missing.

Does anyone have any insight as to how crowded Purg will be? I'm hoping since it's a fairly large resort the lines won't be terrible once everyone gets up on the mountain in the morning and spreads out.

I have a full set of skis I am trying to sell if anyone wants some lightly used ones. They have been used about 12 or 14 times at most. Selling only because I just dont have the time anymore to ski, would much rather fish or hunt.

I skiid for 25 years and just dont have much love for it anymore. I dont like clutter and they are taking up room and do not belong in the reloading closet lol.

How bad are the crowds in Steamboat during spring break? Is it any better during the week, lke Monday through Thursday?

Don't mind flying somewhere, but would like to avoid having to rent a car... any other ideas for places we can go to for spring break that fits that criteria?

What's a good location for a family where only 1 adult has ever ski'd - other 5 are rank novice.

Timeframe - between Christmas and return to school.

Honestly I am sure any of the big resorts in Colorado would be fine. Keystone, Breckenridge, Steamboat, etc. Just do ski lessons for a day for the beginners.

Spring break has been OK for us recently. Just get started early, get to the backside, and avoid coming back down to the main lift until close to lunch time.

Steamboat will be packed like most Colorado hills during Spring Break. We have learned to avoid Monday's like the plague. We skii'd it once several years back at Beaver Creek and it looked like a Buccees at lunch time during an OU/t.u. weekend.

Wolf Creek is one of the better options but it's tough not having a car. We love Beaver Creek as it's one of the furthest hills from Denver and the price scare keeps some away. You can find some decent rentals in town and just ride the shuttle.

Ready for this coming year, no plans yet. I was eyeing some summer clearance skis with the thought of getting something to complement the ones I bought last year, but I get to go so few times, I thought it might be best to just focus another season on mastering the ones I have. The wider carving skis make turning easy, though they're not that flexible so you have to have some strength to work them. I looked at some slightly wider park type skis for something flexible and a bit more floaty but I think I'll wait another season. Maybe rent some for a day just to test out that type.

Maybe when I retire I will move to Utah or Idaho and much closer to the mountains, and get to go more.

It can get crowded but they just built a new lift that should thin out the base area some. Get to the top and don't go back to the base till end of the day. Honestly the longest lines have been on some of the smaller lifts higher on the mountain as people try to work their way back to the base at the end of the day.

We flew for probably 7 or 8 out of the 10 times. You can fly direct from Dallas on SWA or AA. Easy flight to Haden. We would get a shuttle to take us to town and the condo. I think it was $40 each way for each person. But where we stay, once you are at the condo, they have a shuttle service that takes you to the base for skiing, or to the grocery store or to downtown for dinner etc. Just works on tips. We stay at The Ranch condos. Have all but 1 year.

The drive from Dallas is not bad. We typically split in Colorado Springs going up. Then we have made the all-day 15 hour drive back both times. Nice to bring your own gear and have wheels. And flights have become so expensive.

Great ski school. Until this last year, we had the kids in lessons for 2 days. Then ski with fam for 2 days. We would pay for , not the group and not the private. Something where they max at 5 students. More than once, our kids were the only ones in the class, so pay less for a private day. Now the kids know how to ski anything and know their way on the mountain, so probably no more lessons.

We like Steamboat because it doesn't get all of the day-skiers from Denver. Lower elevation, but tons of snow and plenty of terrain. Town is more "western" and laid back than the I-70 resorts / towns.

I'd say that is a pretty good summary of Steamboat. I've been going up there for over twenty years. Had a couple of condos in the Highmark but we sold those and bought a house about 6 years ago. The last couple of years were outstanding skiing. Let's keep our fingers crossed for another good snow year.

Most likely headed back to Canada with the fam for spring break. Trying to decide whether to go back to Canmore/Banff again or to try somewhere new (e.g. Whistler).

Then a trip to Tahoe (North Star and Diamond Peak)

Hopefully, I make it up to Mt Hood this season.

Should be a great season. My 6 year old is already doing her snow dances.

Season pass for Schweitzer, oldest daughter is going to be doing her first year of racing school (not actually racing, but broadening her instruction).

I'm going to have to bust out my shorty twin tips again because the youngest will be getting ample time on the bunny hill this year and I foresee lots of backwards wedging in my future.

If driving go to Wolf Creek.
If flying choose one of the many resorts in Utah.

Telluride 1st week of January and also possibly MLK weekend+.

Where in Utah would have good ski in/out but also close enough to some shops/restaurants to avoid needing a car? Any recs?

Steamboat seems like a good option with those things as well as close to the airport.

What about Whistler/Blackcomb?

After 25yrs of snowboarding and a ton of pressure from friends that made the switch I'm taking the leap to skis. Going to Purgatory in Jan. Adding another resort to my list of places I've been.

All about what you want. My wife grew up in W. Texas and they always drove to Wolf Creek. Didn't need restaurants. Didn't need shopping. Just a couple of cabins and 30 minute drive to the base area.
