Insurance is a regulated industry. Contrary to the commoditized narrative of the $5B marketing industry surrounding insurance, it is literally impossible to get an exact "apples to apples" policy proposal from two different companies. Most folks are completely ignorant about SO many realities with insurance, yet they smirk and bloat as though they actually have a clue.

Policy form details are mind-numbing (yet extremely relevant). Unless you work in this industry for a living AND have the objectivity of being independent (vs captive), your ability to truly understand everything you're buying is going to be far more difficult than you realize.

Call an independent agent with a reputation for specializing in education. Texags has been partnered with Rollo Insurance for over a decade, for a reason. Trust & reputation are worth a lot...Especially when it comes to managing risk.

Disclaimer: I do NOT sell insurance, but I've worked in a close enough orbit for long enough to be able to speak the absolute truth with complete and sincere conviction.

If you haven't shopped insurance in 5+ yrs, you are getting hosed. Find a local independant broker or 3 and get some quotes.

The cost of insurance is insane. We just renewed our homeowners and auto policy last month and it was rough. I use Goosehead, but got quotes from agents that advertise on TA (Liere & Rollo) as well as agents from Farmer's, State Farm, Progressive, etc. My renewals from my current provider through Goosehead were the best option at the end of the day. I could get lower auto by a couple hundred, but homeowners was up more than that. Remove homeowners and auto would increase to make it a wash. It's insane.

$2k/yr for a $500 deductible on a '17 Odyssey and '22 Accord. Year before on a '17 Odyssey and '13 Edge was $1200/yr, and we have clean driving records. And that's paying 100% upfront. Living in Harris County sucks.

Shopping my auto and home policy now. Have Farm Bureau but was hit with 30% increase on home policy and have NEVER filed a claim. Just got a quote from Germania that was $900 cheaper on homeowners and ranch. Anyone have companies to avoid on quotes I know Allstate is bad but need advice on who to avoid like the plague. Auto policy with Farm Bureau also went up 20% and no accidents. Hell I live in the country with no traffic.

I've got a wife with an accident and a teenager with two.

I think it would be cheaper to buy and insurance company at this point.
