Just for giggles, I wonder who has the fattest dog. My submission is Jess. She is a mutt and actually lays down to eat because it takes it out of her to stand up. Last weight 101lbs. This picture explains the laziness, but does not properly express the size of this tank.

In my Cassie's case, not really. Vet said she could stand to lose a couple of pounds (out of 70), but that she's in good health. Gets plenty of exercise, too.

My 12 YO Sheltie. He's been on a diet for three years. Went from 55 to 47 pounds. Not sure we can do more

I'm 5-9 and 154. But my family sneaks scraps whenever I'm not looking. They know I don't approve but do it anyway

More exercise. Take her on a couple of long walks daily. And I'm guessing she's still eating too much.

2. Eastern and Western. Used to have a Mexican hognose, and the 2 types of Madagascan hognoses. Still want to get a South American tricolor.

Switched the eastern above over to mice. Which is super hard to do.

Not here. Mr. Diesel is a pet weight nazi, even to our friends and neighbors. Too many years as a vet tech. It was super annoying at first but now when I go somewhere and their pets beg it drives me insane. It also helped after years of saying dogs could get pancreatitis from human food and me rolling my eyes, then we went to the coast and my golden got it from eating pears that had fallen on the floor from a toddler. Expensive lesson for July 4th weekend.

I have a lab mix that would be a barrel on four legs if I let him eat all he wants. Never had a dog this ravenous. He just weighed in at 83 lbs but the vet said he should really be in the 75-80 range.

This guy gobbles his kibbles like there's no tomorrow, but always acts hungry. He'll sit under the bird feeder and lick spilled seeds off the ground. He gets a lot of exercise, we live in the country so he gets a long walk off the leash every day.

I hate feeling like I'm always starving him. Anyone else have this problem?

Charlie is spectacular. I had a morbidly obese English lab that was 136 pounds and lived to be around 14 years old. He was a rescue that I had for 12 years but was at least two when he came to me. Couldn't take the weight off no matter how hard we tried.

I wonder if being a rescue has something to do with it? The dog I posted above was a rescue that was really skinny when we got her. When she eats she moves her dish away from the other dogs and then lays down with her front legs around it to hoard it. Or she could just be fat.

I reduced my dogs food because she's been Hoovering so much left behind by my toddlers. She's back to be sleek and slender.

My kids are grown. One live with me and she is the main culprit. Wife swears she doesn't feed anything but string beans and carrots. I believe her. He is 12 and like others posting he just has a fat gene. My 5 year old poodle eats twice as much and barely can gain a pound. He is much more active.

Since fat boy is 12 I figure to just let live and be happy.

Charlie is an easy keeper as a non-working house dog. Since I made the change to Purina OM food, he has maintained a good weight.

Years ago my FIL had a black lab/Aussie cross that looked like a pure lab. He fed it everything left over from his meals. Fries, burgers, ice cream, jelly, etc. He constantly fed it chocolate with no acute affects. At 7 years old it weighed 116 lbs. Obese. One day he called me and said his dog couldn't get up. It was on his slick kitchen floor, spread-eagled. I think it suffocated due to its weight pressing down on that floor. Dude cried like a baby when I told him it was dead.
The spot in his back yard where I buried it stayed green for several years.

Tucker May be a little overweight at 117 lbs, but he is a large lab and gets plenty of exercise.
