As many of you know, Buc-ee's is branching out to the Southeast. Since he's from Louisville, I assume he's visiting the Buc-ee's off Exit 92 on I-75 in Kentucky.

I have a nephew that lives in Wisconsin who told me they're building one near the Dells. It's slowly spreading everywhere.

I'm hoping for one in Indiana soon.

With all the branching out, it would be nice if they branched somewhere on I-37 between SA and Corpus.

Sounds like an opinion one would have just to be controversial.

What do you not like about buccees and how do other gas stations do it better?

Just burned out. Also, too many damn people. There are so many new gas stations that are more convenient with similar quality provisions.

I know I'm the only one. I'm cool with it!

I just discovered The Texan chain of "Buc-ees like" stations/stores. Smaller but similar setup and pretty dang good! Wish there was one near me.

The best thing they did was step-upped the game and made almost every other gas station actually keep the place clean and provide more than just snacks or soft drinks.

I like Buc-ees but the parking and finding an open pump can be a pain

I love Bucees, but don't think the brisket is their strong suit.

I totally get that for one that lives in Texas and has so many options. They're about to open one about 45 minutes from me off Exit 407 on I-40 in Sevierville. I'm counting the days.

If you're going to Buccees for their brisket, you're doing it wrong.
The last thing I want to do is hurt you. But, it's still on the list.

Interesting. I've never had a problem finding either, but I mainly go to the one in Melissa

Buccee's is great. I'm in Denton and there's two within 15 miles of me that are convenient and not insanely crowded on a random Tuesday at 10AM or something. For the folks who really only stop at Buccee's on a long drive over the weekend, I totally get how they can feel like a beating.

Buccee's makes a damn fine kolache (klobasnicky) for a gas station.

That makes them good people in my book.

Me too. I have never had to wait. Pulled right up to a pump. This is generally Bastrop or Prarie View

I remember when I'd stop by the Buccees in Gonzales on my way to Victoria to get a fresh breakfast taco made in front of you. Now they use powdered eggs and frozen tater tots.

They also no longer make any traditional Czech Kolache fruit flavors. Everything now is pie filling.

I still like Buccees, but I see where JohnLA is coming from

They are expensive and I hate having to circle the pumps multiple times while waiting on a pump to clear.

Their breakfast taco quality has absolutely gone down. Their "hippos" are the size of taquitos now. Which goes against everything a hippo should be.

Disgraceful.

But still miles better than any other stop and go

They are slowly replacing food and drink with their own branded stuff.

Great businesses usually end up expanding beyond their ability to maintain the quality that made them special. They are still a great stop but definitely not what they were when they first started

Do they not have Stripes/Laredo Taco in your area?

This.

But so long as people keep going there (and that ain't stopping based on what I have seen), we're stuck reminiscing about the good old days…. That, and they have basically been deemed "untouchable" by Texans, in that, the second you criticize them you get your Texan Card revoked. Much in the same way you cant say anything bad about Whataburger, Blue Bell or HEB.

It's a good gas station, and I admire their brand building.

But going inside during a busy time is what I imagine those 5,000 person cruise ships are like.

Another vote for The Texan. We've been to the one near Schulenburg. Smaller and has great quality food.

With the continued expansion, I hope they've cleaned up corporate. B-1 83 daughter worked there for a couple of years and said they just grew too fast and had no good ladder to climb in a few departments.

Buccees in Waller stopped giving pickles for their bbq sandwiches or even the option to purchase. That is BS. Also they don't have gatorade, topo Chico and are slowly phasing out frito lay. As in there were no fritos scoops nor didn't see clearly on last Wednesday they had bean dip.

I would argue 2 of these items could be considered culturally unique items for texas maybe even 3 of those (not Gatorade).

I feel like the only real difference maker for them now is they have cheap DEF at the pump and ethanol free gasoline
AggieOO
How long do you want to ignore this user?
It's OK, but I only stop if it's not insanely busy, which is almost never.

Also buccees nuggets are not good.
