Which one? I can't find them in hand at my local Kroger.

The one in Southlake.
I think you could even do the buy online deal and arrange for pickup tomorrow. Maybe.

Oh and another buddy found them at the Bartonville location, too. But NOT at the Flower Mound one.

My Kroger and HEB have no briskets to be found. Did find this prime as Sam's though!

As mentioned, $2.49 for choice in Houston area. Anyone know when the price is good through?

Grabbed one in North Dallas tonight. I've always had a gas grill and recently got a Weber Performer Deluxe. Want to do some pork butts first to get my legs under me but couldn't pass up the deal. Got a 14.5 lb choice brisket for $24. Threw it in the freezer and actually upset I didn't grab a second

Never seen Prime brisket over $5 at HEB and usually less, even when trimmed.

Bizarre. Beef has gone up with all of this right? All the bbq restaurants charging more per pound and Kroger is dropping their prices?

My buddy that told me about this sale said it was because Kroger supposedly over ordered their briskets. No idea if it's true.

5 hours in on my first brisket smoking!

Kroger runs this sale several times every year.

The closest Kroger store to Round Rock, is in Bryan. Maybe I need to make a brisket run!

Bought 2 briskets last Thursday at Kroger in Midlothian. They are also having a buy one get one free on pork baby back ribs.

This just happened. They probably had 20 of them mixed in with Choice.

I ran to Kroger yesterday after reading this thread (H-Town, so $2.99, but still good price). I just looked through and picked the one with the thickest flat. Didn't even look at whether it was mislabeled. Now I can't wait to get back home to see if I won the Golden Ticket.

I got for about 2.50 a pound at walmart last Thursday in FW.

Did a quick smoke Saturday (8.5 hours). I was terribly disappointed but the family told me to stop being dumb and that it was good. Not sure if it was the meat, or if my quick smoke got to hot at one point. Thinnest side had to be sliced reallly thin.

The only time I've ever done a brisket, I thought it was awful but everyone told me it was good. Can't help but think they're just trying to make you feel better. I wanted to tell them, "it's ok guys, I can take it"

The reality for both of y'all is that the brisket is likely somewhere in the middle. We are our own worst critics and it probably isn't that bad, but friends and family do tend to be way too nice and not want to say something bad. Makes it hard to get honest feedback sometimes.

If the flat had to be sliced really thin because it was too tough you likely undercooked it. Needed more heat to render the fat and relax the muscle more.

Entirely possible. Only stuck thermometer in point and it read 193. Pulled it, but only let it rest 10 minutes or so. Might have been in the direct center in the fatty layer. Have done plenty of quick smokes before and never had that issue though. Using an old weber with reticulated sides and two coal baskets on either side of the meat.

Price changes usually happen on Wednesday. Midlothian Kroger still had 20-30 at 1.67$

That's like getting a case of shells for the price of a box.
