I've never seen that before. What's the deal?

Squirrels and other mammals, like raccoons, don't like the burning sensation from the hot pepper. Birds cannot sense the spice. The birds eat the hot pepper food just like any other birdseed, but the squirrels leave it alone.

But it's more fun to shoot squirrels. They are rats with bushy tails.

I put a pile of corn in my back yard and shoot them with my bow. Killed 10 with my bow and 26 with Benjamin maurader. They don't come in my yard anymore.

I've just joined the Gammo whisperer crowd. I hear the scope sucks and I'll need to replace. I have a few rifle scopes around. Anything y'all recommend for the gammo?

Don't ever buy a Crossman Fire. Cheap, loud, not very accurate, trigger sucks. Done with that chinese POS. Pick up the new curbside in a few for an evening backyard hunt.

I use my Crosman Mod 760 .177 cal pellet/BB pump rifle. I shoot head shots on squirrels to make it sporting.

I like a head shot also, the scope on this Fire is awful. The gun is also really mound for my neighborhood. Hoping the Gammo is better.

Hmmmm.....I might have to look into that. I let my dogs out at 4 AM this morning and they took off at top speed after something. Pretty sure there was a raccoon on one of the bird feeders as it was swinging pretty good when I took a look over there. Squirrels can't get past the baffle on the pole.

Make sure the baffle is around 4.5 ft high so the critters cannot jump over it. A big raccoon can get around a squirrel baffle.

How do you like the Gamo? I just ordered a .22 Cal Gamo Whisper Fusion Mach 1 from Amazon.

I bought .177, I'm shooting 1/2 in groups at 25 yards. It was dead on out of box. I've adjusted scope maybe 5 clicks. It's nails, highly recommend. I'll dial it in a little more this weekend. I need to adjust the trigger still. It's still a little stiff. Loads of fun in the back yard.

I don't think it's any quieter than the Crossman.

Got to get really good recipes and follow them. They can be tough if not cooked correctly. Otherwise like dark meat

Seriously, how decent is squirrel meat?

Really thinking about hunting them.

They threw down on a bunch of squirrel meat on the 2nd or 3rd episode of "Meat Eater"

I soak all my wild meat in buttermilk a day before. It's a given when I cook it. Granny Bott recipe. It definitely helps with gaming taste issue.

Suppressed rimfire are certainly fun especially with CB's but this FX PCP is stunningly accurate, equally as quiet and pushing a 34gr Exact King to 975 fps...hammers small game.

my cousins used to hunt and eat them all the time behind the pine curtain in east texas. only way they ever ate them was to soak them in buttermilk overnight, batter them, and chicken fry them. very similar to dark meat chicken. as kids we enjoyed taking the dogs they had out hunting in the morning and then cooking them up over the weekend. make up some gravy and french fries and it's a klassic kountry meal.

My squirrel count is currently at 19 with a Gamo Whisperer .177 cal. All confirmed kills and generally body shots. I don't think you have to have a .22lr.

I mean, you may "need" one and that's fine.

Same setup here. Was up to 25 this year until the shelter in place orders. Now my neighbors are all home throughout the day. That being said, the tree rats have gotten very brave lately. When everyone goes back to work I plan on making quick work of them.

I stumbled onto this YouTube channel earlier this week- not sure how or why, but now I want to get one of these Ed Gun Pellet guns. Get ready to waste some time watching some squirrels get wasted.

If I had this when I was a kid, never would have made it to adulthood. Sister would have murdered me by day 2 and my body would still be missing.

We used to shoot squirrels in the backyard growing up with a Red Ryder and occasionally a pellet gun (and before you say that won't kill them), it never penetrated their hide but stunned them long enough to knock them out of the trees where our lab was waiting. She got so used to it that she thought squirrels dropped out of the sky just for her. It took her 6mo after we moved off to college for her to stop looking up in the trees and waiting for the tree rats to fall.

That is awesome. Too bad my lack of a job at 10 would have put that out of my price range.

Can confirm that a rifle of similar caliber does the job... Just don't plan on eating them after the fact.

I just watched a 41 min show about shooting squirrels, chipmunks, coons, skunks and opossums. Dear Baby Jesus, please let this quarantine end soon! Good video though.

I feel your pain... I was actually thinking, 'I can make a video like this' while watching the video. I will probably need to upgrade my camera but... Giddings watch out.
