I have 3 pair: Harpoons that are 5+ years old, Brine that are 4ish, and Fathoms that are about a year. I take pretty good care of my stuff and have never had to send anything in to test their warranty but yall have me wondering...

The Brines were my heavy outdoor use, hunting/fishing, working around the farm pair and so some of the plastic has peeled away and the rubber part actually separated from the hardened plastic part on the side pieces. I super glued it back together and they are still wearable, but I put them away and got the Fathoms to supplement my Harpoons that are more just driving and every day use.

If it will only cost me 60-70 bucks I might see if they would repair the frame on the Brines. I like the way they fit better and the lenses are still in perfect condition, no scratches at all. Guess I should email them and see what they say.

If the rubber separated from the plastic, they will usually replace them free
I assume they just replace the one arm or do they actually replace the whole frame?

Every time I've sent them in for this problem they've replaced both earpieces in the glasses at no additional charge besides the cost to get them there. The one time they replaced the whole pair I mentioned in the warranty claim that the rubber part pulled off when I removed the "costa keepers" (their name for croakies or whatever). Idk if that's what made a difference or if they could tell I've got multiple pairs and have used my warranty multiple times, but I was pleased with the outcome

I have purchased the glasses from snp, but all other previous purchases have been legit. Note these are for plastic lenses. Don't know if eye guy gets them at this price, but not trying to direct business away from him.

Those are all discontinued styles. Nothing wrong with them, but that's why they are so cheap.

I dropped my old out of style towers and they let me pick any option for only the price of shipping.

Update: they called me today and are sending me a new pair of glasses for $12.00.

Evidently the lenses were not up to snuff either, even though I didn't see anything wrong with them.

So the outstanding service reputation is legit in my book

I have two pair of costas that the paint is peeling off the frames. I've not called, but it put me off their classes. Has anyone had the frames replaced due to paint issues?

Send them back.
Costa rarely repairs anything...they usually replace and in a lot of cases- they upgrade.

I'm assuming that they are fixing mine - I had only authorized Warranty Repairs, and I have not received any notice of repairs costing $.

The online system shows my current status as "Repair Under Quality Control".

I sure wish they'd ship them out soon - we leave for Orange Beach next Thursday and I'd prefer to have them with me.

Always treated me right. Just bought 2 pair of the prescription eyeglass frames as well. Built rock solid.

Just got three pairs back from them. Wife sent in a pair of Blackfins that had the rubber coming off of them. Frames were replaced under warranty for $13. She also sent in a pair of Isabelas that had scratched lenses. Costa determined the frames should also be replaced ($13). The new plastic 580 lenses were $70. I sent in a pair of Zanes with cracked lenses and crushed frames. They charged me $90 for the new glass 580 lenses and $13 for the frame warranty. Basically got three new pairs of glasses for about $200 with a week turnaround time. I'm pleased.

The rubber on the lower right arm had brittled and broken off on my man o' wars, loved those sunglasses, had them 2 plus years. Called Costa and went through the warranty process, paid $11.99 for shipping (they even generated the label) and sent them in late last week. Get an email on the 15th they've been received and are being looked at, get another email on the 18th that those frames have been discontinued (I already knew this from my initial call with them) and that I need to go on their site and pick from a similar style, if there are any major discrepancies then I will pay the difference if applicable. Called them today and chose the Cat Cay this go round, and another $13 tacked on for the warranty. That's it, nothing else.

So for roughly $27 I get a brand new set of Costas that retail for around $260.

*They suggest trying on other styles if yours are discontinued before you decide, which I did at Academy yesterday. Really wanted the Tuna Alley but they didn't seem to sit right on me, and the Saltbreak are similar to the man o' war's but same thing, just not a perfect fit. Cat Cay's were perfect.

Not sure what all they are replacing, but just got the email back that they are covered and all I'm out is the $11 of shipping. Costa warranty is no myth, don't listen to the doubters on the first page.

Has anyone stopped to question why there are so many people who need the Costa "warranty"?

Following the same business model as Leupold and Vortex.

1) Make a subpar product with foreign parts
2) Offer lifetime warranty
3) Buyers feel good bc when it breaks, we back it, they keep using our subpar product.
4) Profit

I don't see it in this case. Most of the time when they replaced something for me free or at very low cost. I was probably at least 50% to blame.

Yeah my glasses were 16 yrs old. I have another pair that is 8 yrs old. I wear both very often.

I've got zero issues with their quality.

They covered mine under warranty!

As best as I can tell, they replaced the entire frames and not just the ear piece....I had some scuff marks on the old frames that weren't there when they returned them. I guess they could have buffed them out or something but they looked like a brand new set to me.

It used to be the best. I'm willing to be $5 they tell him it will be $50-$75 to repair/replace.

I've moved away for Costa for this reason.

This. They were great 15yr ago. Now just another company

Uhhh...did you bother to read the thread? Not only did they replace my glasses at no cost, almost every experience listed on this 53+ post thread is positive.

I agree with a poster above that it seems like the negative posts on this thread are mostly from folks who feel like the warranty is an insurance policy.

Since posting this thread, I looked at all the main glasses manufacturers warranty/repair policy and haven't come across one that is even remotely close to what Costa's is.
