Solid knives for the price. I own a few and have no complaints.

Have you used their life sharp service?

I bought one of their fixed blade skinners with D2 steel a few years back. It was when I was guiding almost every weekend from Oct through Feb and gutting/skinning numerous animals in the morning and again in the evening, 2-3 days in a row. I have zero complaints about that knife. Holds an edge like a champ. When it does lose its edge, it is easy to get back. Even better, I bought it when Sportsman's Warehouse was going out of business in Lewisville, TX and it was something like a 65% discount from normal price. I'm getting ready to buy one of their OTF knives when I get some disposable $$ built up after hunting season. It will be my new EDC.

Have a Benchmade as my EDC. Love it. Easy to open with one hand.

I have a Benchmade mini griptillian for edc. Great knife, keeps an edge.

I keep in my back, right pocket with the attached clip for quick, easy access when I need it.

One handed open is awesome. How many times are you holding something in one hand and need to cut it with a knife. With the axis open you can easily grab, flip it open, make your cut, and close it without putting the item down. I'll always have a one handed open knife from now on.

I have a mini barrage that's replaced a very old Gerber Paraframe for me. The benchmade keeps its edge quite well.

Great knives but always felt overpriced for something to get lost or broken. I really like CRKT. Fairly cheap but good quality. The blades are good steel that's easy to keep sharp.

I have carried a Benchmade 710 D2 for many years on nights and weekends primarily. It has served me very well through a lot of tasks. Quality that lasts.
Here's a review that I found and agree with most of his points.

My EDC for over 3 years now is an Auto Stryker. I also have an AFO II I carry from time to time. It's a hoss. I highly recommend the auto's if you don't mind the cost. I was a Kershaw fan but sold them all. Best knives I've ever owned and no issues at all. Great edge retention and I use the Stryker daily.

One of my EDC's is a Benchmade carbon-fiber 940. Excellent build quality so far. Only you can say if BM is worth the money, but you can't argue about the quality of the product.

You might also consider Zero Tolerance knives. Great build quality as well, and their flipper mechanisms work quite well.

If you are wanting a very high-quality folding knife and don't want to spend BM money, take a look at the Spyderco Tenacious. It has the highest build quality of any knife I have ever seen under $50. Certainly better than sub-$50 knives from CRKT and Kershaw and the like.

If you are more of a traditionalist (old fart), then you can't go wrong with a Case, but the majority of them take two hands to open....

Love them. Don't even know how many I have...8-10? Axis lock is fantastic, although most of mine are older liner lock style and one fixed blade.

Lost or broken?

Time to be an adult and not lose things first off. I really have never understood that argument for knives or sunglasses. Keep track of your stuff!

If you're breaking quality knives, then you're definitely using them incorrectly and very potentially dangerously. Knives are not pry bars or screwdrivers. Its pretty easy to keep a small toolkit around with basic tools if you are using your knife for stuff like that often...

If the only pocket knife I owned was my Benchmade 940, I'd be very happy.

Well balanced, sharp, light, holds an edge well...great knife.

I started carrying a benchmade several years ago, and don't see going back to any other brand. They are top quality knives. I prefer their liner lock mechanism, I can open and close the knife one handed with it. I carry a mini griptilian. I haven't sent mine in for their lifetime service work, but I will at some point, and its part of why they are worth the money IMO.

Exactly! It's not hard to hang on to a good knife for decades.

If you want something to pry with, put one of these on your keychain:

My EDC for the past few years is a mini griptillian and love it. Great knife. One day I'll send it in for the life sharp service and tune up the offer, but till then I just sharpen myself

Love their knives. Great quality, holds an edge, and just a workhorse.

Usually carry the griptillian, the Casbah or the Norfolk.

I'd stay away from serrations too.

Honorable mentions: Zero Tolerance or Tops

Been carrying one now for several years on a daily basis. I have many knives, but I always reach for this one.

I've been carrying a Benchmade Crawford Leopard Cub for over twenty years. My wife wonders why I never carry any of the knives she has given me (some really nice ones BTW). The only answer I have is because it's my favorite.

I carried a Barrage for a few years then recently decided to go thinner and lighter and went with a Bugout. 1.85 ounces and just the perfect EDC in my book. The Axis lock system is hard to beat.

I just bought a hidden canyon hunter which is a fixed blade skinner. It has the S30V steel which I understand to have excellent edge retention at the cost of difficult sharpening. We'll see. The lifesharp program may come in handy. The knife is very well made

I also edc a mini griptilian going on 5 years now. Wonderful knife but I admittedly abuse the crap out of it. I have sent it back twice now. Just got it back last week. All the black coating is worn off the blade and they do not recoat it but otherwise just like new. Only costs the shipping to them.

It is perfect for my edc but I prefer bark river for other types of knives.

Have a mini griptilian for edc and a barrage that I take to the field. Both are great knives. I had carried Kershaw in the past and really liked them until I was gifted the benchmade. The difference in quality is clear. Not that the Kershaw is bad, but the weighting, craftsmanship, and durability of edge isn't in the same league.
