Howdy! Looking to purchase a Ruger mini 30 or an SKS. I love the 7.62 round and the look of both of these rifles.

From what I have read, the Ruger mini 30 is a decent weapons but has issues cycling more cost effective or "cheap steel" ammo and loses accuracy due to overheating, while the SKS is a work horse that will basically fire anything well. Would love a Springfield M1A but that's kind of a pipe dream as they're really pricy.

If anyone has any insight of why to choose one or the other or is selling one I'd be interested. Would primarily be using it at my ranch on hogs and deer.

I have not shot an accurate SKS. I hear they are out there but I have not found one.

He is paying for truck repairs, he will also likely be adding a Nightforce 3-10x42 MOAR non-illuminated to the list. As that will be funding the new purchase, basically want something with a bit more magnification.
