Couple of points here;

Great cameras, you can get a pretty good look at your entrances. Something I noticed, for future reference: if you can find a way to place a camera facing the entrance, and a little lower you might be able to get more identification when visitors turn to leave your home. Second, if you can measure around five and a half feet and then six feet up the doorway and place an unobtrusive mark(s), height becomes a little more observable. The camera angle is distorting their height and although they are young, it is hard to tell just how tall they are.

As far as their intent, IMO, had the door not been locked, they were going to enter. I think the audio makes that clear. That they weren't willing to break in may help get them turned around and see this for the bad choice that it is. This subdivision is not on the main drag and is a destination (except for when I was teaching one of my teens how to drive) so you (they) would not just be passing by. So, if this was a 'first' attempt at something, I'm going to hope they weren't successful elsewhere. Since you haven't yet been annexed (correct?) by CoCS, is the sheriff willing to work with you on resolving this?
I know this is the last thing you needed on your already full plate.

If they need an adrenaline rush, they should join that fundraiser that Candy 95 is doing where you get to rappel off the Hilton. That will get the BP up!...

Thank you @Oogway for very good points on camera placement and assessment of their intents. I hadn't thought of that those camera tips.

The Sheriff (Deputy Grissom) has been very helpful. We actually have two independent leads that concur of one individual but not a positive ID so I don't think we should put his name out yet. He may be in the AP US History Class at CSHS. Again, no positive ID but we have a vehicle and other friend to match up. Hopefully these boys would discover a concept of manning up at this time and coming forward on their own.

Our son Coulter is recovering well as he was discharged this weekend. We are grateful of the progress made and the support and prayers of so many, in his long road ahead.

@NRD09 - we too thought the same thing of these boys (dressed and acted like Beavis/Butthead).

Thank you again for the kindness of so many here. It is a reminder of what makes Aggies and CS special to our family.

I am glad your son is continuing to persevere; he has a lot of grit for someone so young.

Your description of the two young men, matches what I was thinking - if they were old enough to drive (legally anyway) then they were probably upperclassmen or out of hs (it can be hard at around 17-19 since some boys look 30 and others 13 at those ages). I tried zooming in since I know students from both schools, but couldn't make them out well enough to tell and if the APUSH class turns out correct, wouldn't be the same age as mine as they most likely would be juniors. Regardless, going around rattling doorknobs is incredibly ill-advised day or night so I hope they are found and set straight. If they aren't currently signed up for the drug testing in the District, their parents might want to sign them up for that too....

I'm not local to your area, but I can almost guarantee the local middle school or high school assistant principals will be able to tell you who one (or maybe both) of these losers is.

My best friend is a Principal at a Middle school locally, and he knows all the morons that do stupid crap like this, by sight. He can point them out and what their tendencies are. If you could get the SRO to ask the local assistant principals, I am assuming you would get your answers quickly.

I can positively identify these two miscreants.

One is named Beavis, the other is Butthead.

When they're identified, if you get to speak with them, you (or maybe the Sheriff if he is willing) should tell them that you were home and alerted when they walked up, and you were sitting inside with a loaded shotgun waiting for them to enter. Let them believe they were an unlocked doorknob away from being dead.

I second the idea about talking with local school administrators. They will know these kids.

Well, that is probably smart on their part. Students have a right to some privacy. However, the Brazos County Sheriff's Office supplies the resource officers for CSISD and they have the ability to do things that Joe Stranger who visits/calls a campus looking for info on minors cannot. Campus security has been an issue for awhile and you can't loosen the rules for some and not for others or you get sued and most Districts are desperate not to get sued these days.

Didn't realize there was audio when I first watched the videos. Watched them on my phone and usually keep media volume all the way down unless I'm trying to listen to something. My security system is obviously way behind yours. Obviously, the audio changes my previous comments. My appologies.

Yeah 14-15 year old doofuses. Check JH coach who probably had in general PE, art teacher, yearbook staff and general ed class teachers. Just stupid kids probably not burgling the house.

The Nextdoor folks had one identified pretty quickly. They are also pretty good with coral snakes, copperheads, and bobcats. Thankful my neigorhood peeps are above the average for the nextdoor forums I've seen elsewhere.

Carpe, without revealing TMI, are you getting any indication that this was a one off and a positive resolution will be achieved? I ask carefully because I don't know the exact ages, and prefer to tread somewhat carefully where minors are involved, especially until the investigation is complete.

Intent was clear, and that's certainly not the first time.
BCSO will sort it out and CSPD has likely had them dialed in for a while.
