Wasn't there a deal on Texags a while back where someone sold a pit for REAL cheap but the condition was that the seller could use it or borrow it or some weird thing like that?

I assumed that was what was being referred to.

Youre thinking of the tailgating rig that required a season of "training" while the sellers built their new rig for next year and drank your beer with your money in their pockets. To my knowledge there was no gay rodeo cowboy involved there.

And I don't recall it being cheap.

He may not be losing any money. I don't know the story but it's possible Gator Pits realized they effed up, they told him "We apologize, to show our appreciation and try to fix our delay we'll discount this pit for you to $3,500." OP says great, but I don't need the pit anymore. He then decides to hook someone up on TexAgs and offer the pit at the discounted price.

So I called to make sure this was legit. I figured it was as he's been on the board a lot etc..

Lady answers and I gave her a few details. She knows the situation. The pit was paid in full. She's very rude.

I asked her if I pay Stephen if it'll be ok that I pick it up. She says no. Exact words are " no one is making it easy on me and I'm not going to make it easy for anyone else".

I asked to speak to someone else. She said she's it. Her boss agrees with her, period.

They have no intention of helping Stephan out as they know he's not in the state. It's interesting.

I honestly believe they're hoping he doesn't pick it up.

Personally never seen service like this. It's beyond poor. Anyway, the pit is paid in full and there's a good chance gator isn't going to help him.

Just a heads up. You may like ther pits, but this is shady on their part.

She will not let you speak to anyone else. Surely someone on here has dealt with them before and can get us a number to whoever makes a living off that place. He should know about this woman. I'm sure she's his wife. That's the only plausible explanation

I had a gator pit several years ago. That was back before King of the Grill aired and I don't think they were quite as popular. Ritch was a pleasure to deal with and it was easy for me to add some custom options to my pit. I was able to speak with him on the phone and meet with him in person to go over the design and pricing. I was extremely happy with the build quality and performance of the pit. I sold it to buy a Big Joe about a year ago which suits my needs much better. I am not sure who the ***** answering the phone is or what's gone on between GP and OP, but Ritch seemed like a good guy back when I dealt with him and the make nice pits.

I don't imagine this is going to end the way GP was hoping, especially considering they missed the the deadline for OP and are now trying to refuse to deliver it.

There's no reason if it's paid in full that he shouldn't be able release it to whomever he wants. Lot's of honest Ags on here would be willing to help out and go get it whether they're buying it or not.

He could give you power of attorney to pick up the pit and then you could tell them to F- Off when you showed up.

I called her once.

It was actually to inquire about purchasing a couple more for rental units. Got the idea off their website actually.

I was asking about the units I wanted to buy and lead times. Had to have them before summer or it won't work. Idk maybe a stupid idea but I thought people might like to rent a pit on the beach. I live in port a.

If they don't work out I'll sell them, lick my wounds and move on. lol texags will get a good deal.

Anyway, she wasn't very friendly even speaking about the purchases. Couldn't give me dates. No info basically.

Then I asked about the pit in question.

She lost two sales for her company because she wouldn't let me speak to anyone else or give me the info I needed.

Idc about the new pits. I'll get them elsewhere. I'm pissed over the way they are handling this other deal.

Got this money up front and are making it hard for Stephan to work out a deal. Total bs.

I understand. I get amped up over people who are not fair. It's a character flaw. I'm not use to rude people like that. Lol. Port a is small. Have to be nice to everyone because they probably cook your dinner....

I had Gator Pit build me a pit a handful of years ago and I worked directly with Ritch. He was always available and responsive to email.

Doesn't take a lot for a small business, even a relatively successful one, to go sideways. Sounds like those that have dealt directly with the owner had a good experience and received a good product.

BUT....this little tw*t at the front desk, from what it sounds like, is going to drive his shop into the ditch. 20:1 the reason for this whole mess is her fault (scheduling stupidity, didn't communicate properly, etc.)....and now she's trying to desperately cover her ass. I doubt the owner has any idea any of this is going down. Hence the POA angle makes a lot of sense and the route I'd go.

Word gets out, more than it already has, and he's facing real trouble. Pisses me off. Let this be a lesson in customer service, and how serious reputational risk can be.

Anyone have a suggestion for the title that'll cover gator pit. They're the only people worried about th le issue.

lol I have a hundred ways around it. I was trying to be a good boy.

They've become really strict. I've got four trailers and I carry the plates in the truck. People steal them all the time.

I gave the wrong plate to an officer the other day and he knew it. Said the plate didn't match the vin. Caught me off guard. I had the right plate and he was good.

They can look up your serial number apparently and match it to the trailer. That's pretty much going to end the whole one plate for ten trailer deals.

Granted it was a boat trailer. Maybe that makes a difference. Idk.

We'll get it worked out. Had to get the owner to do it at gator pit.

Be nice if he'd title it to me and save all this though.

Nice looking pit. I'm interested but not sure I would want to go through all the hassle that it sounds like will happen.
