I have had good luck lately with Annihilator Polyzone. It's a Bayer product. I've used it inside and out but found once you get things under control, spraying outside only has been sufficient. Local feed store should have it and I've seen it online at Tractor Supply. Good Luck!

Bifen IT can be used indoors/outdoors, Bifen XTS is the outdoor only formula with longer residual. I believe Demon is essentially name brand of the same stuff.

Bifen IT does the job at our place in Sargent, TX. Mosquitos are under control and roaches etc can barely walk once they hit the area sprayed.

I've picked up the Demon packets from TSC and have had great success inside and out.

They are actually different active ingredients, Bifen IT is bifenthrin and Demon WP is cypermethrin.

They both can be used inside and outside.

Which one works best will depend on what you are trying to control? and where you are trying to apply the pesticide to.

Wettable Powdersmake a great choice, especially when applying to porous surfaces like concrete and unfinished wood where water seeps into the material. Once the water has been dried out and evaporated, the powder remains onto the surface of wherever it is applied, ready and waiting to be picked up by offending pests and insects.

This is probably the most helpful thread bump a bot has ever given us.

I use Talster P + Archer IGR + Exciter from a backpack blower/sprayer. Keeps yard free of mosquitoes, roaches, and it even got whatever was starting to make brown patches in my St. Augustine. Put it out approximately every 21 days.

i always spray permethrin then a follow up with bifenthrin. Permethrin knocks their dick in the dirt but doesnt have a long residual. thats where Bifen comes in hand. Its sort of like overseeding with rye grass.

Ok, I searched around and this was the latest thread I could find, but I figured a bump would be better than a new thread.

We live in a new build in Grimes County in what used to be a pasture, and are starting to get hit with pests (just that time of year).

The main culprits are fire ants, wolf spiders, garden spiders, scorpions, and brown recluse.

Most of em don't bother me (been keeping the ants at bay for the most part), but started to find a couple scorpions and brown recluses inside running along the baseboards, and I got a 10 month old that already shows a proclivity for chasing down bugs.

I hit the perimeter of the house with Demon from Tractor supply (foundation, eaves, windows, weep holes, door jambs), and I am gonna apply it to the fence this weekend as well.

I read that I can use Demon on the inside as well, but I wanted to see if there was a better option since I got the young'un exploring around the house, and I don't want him coming in contact with residual stuff. If the demon is still the best, any guidelines for using it around baseboards with carpet?

I also wanted to see what the all knowing OB would recommend for the attic. Is a dust the best bet for long term deterrent? If so any recs?

Once I get the inside cleared out, I plan to maintain everything with exterior only control, and limit the application areas so that I can still hopefully maintain a healthy population of good bugs outside (wolf spiders, garden spiders, etc.) How often do y'all recommend re-applying?

Thanks for any advice y'all can provide.

I go full Nuke myself

Demon on the perimeter bottom , all door and window perimeters and the entire soffit and vent areas as well as where the brickmould meets the brick on the upper perimeters.

Inside I use this

And last but not least this over the entire yard

Repeat every 3 months and bugs will be a non issue

My post to a similar thread on the Home Improvement board a few months ago.

I recommend a multi-tier approach.

Outside
1. Bifen liquid (hose end sprayer) on the yard to try to get the existing population in check around your house with a quick effect.
2. Demand CS or other micro-encapsulated (long residual) chemical 4-6' out from the house and 4-6' in from the fence. This has a long residual effect.
3. Demon WP to all exposed foundation where the foundation meets the siding/brick. Pay close attention to the lower 1/3 of every door and window on the 1st floor. Also pay close attention to any other potential access point - weep holes, plumping/wiring runs (at the AC is a good example). This leaves behind a residual powder (WP) that has incredible knock down power but is completely useless if it gets washed off. Focus on areas that aren't routinely soaked.
4. Bifen granule to the whole property.

All of the chemicals will have suggested rates for infestation vs. maintenance. Follow the instructions.

Repeat all 4 of these @ 45 days. After that, maintenance application on items 2-4 every 90 days OR as soon as you see any activity. A particularly rainy stretch can render most of this stuff useless sooner than 90 days. Likewise, during a drought you can get more than 90 days out of a treatment.

Demon and Demand are safe to use indoors. Focus on doors and windows, bathroom plumbing, and along baseboards behind furniture and in other places where the kids and dogs won't get in it. I don't put anything where my kids or pets are going to get in it, mainly because it's not really necessary. Again, follow the label instructions, most of these chemicals are safe for humans and pets AFTER they dry completely.

You do all that you absolutely will not have a bug problem.

Good luck.

I'll second Demon WP

The 1 packet per gallon mini packs are an easy mix and go. Just did this at our new construction since we are 30ish days out from moving in.

Took out some spiders and scorpions. Just know it kills all the "good" bugs too.
