Also the wind would blow so hard you had "whitecaps" in your toilet from the wind blowing over the plumbing vents on the roof creating a suction.

That's awesome. I assume if you start getting icebergs in your toilet, it is time to turn up the furnace!

Oh sure. Live on or near the largest active caldera on the planet that looks like it's growing these days. I like to visit but not live there.
Well we might as well give up and run
If we let 'm take our God and guns.

I don't know, if that thing goes off do you want to be part of the struggle to survive on North America or would you rather it just be over?

Good point. I don't want to be around either way. Awesome place, though. I wonder if Woody Harrelson is there on top of a hill in his RV smoking some hemp?

Regarding Jackson....
a) Teton county has the fewest acres of privately owned land in the state and as a result (supply - demand), the billionaires have moved the millionaires out to say, Dubois. While other counties in the state are concentrating on road maintenance, Teton county is dealing with affordable housing...which it is not. When the sheriff deputy or hospital nurse (much less the 7-11 store worker) has to live in Pinedale or Idaho, there is a problem when the roads are closed.
b) Depending on how you lean politically, Teton county is one of the two blue counties in the state. Following from a) above, the native Wyomingite population percentage is low compared to the CA type imports who can afford it.
c). There is no question that it is beautiful.

Regarding some of the weather comments....
I am actually considering 'snowbirding' in ColSta during the winter. You have to want to be here as the wind and temperature comments in the posts above are correct. What I tell my Ag brethren about the wind is "when the wind blows 90 mph on the gulf coast, you give it a person's name. We call it "Thursday"'.

I live here and enjoy it (most of the time). I like to return to TX and enjoy that too. Embrace the differences.

Seems every year the debate goes on about housing. We see a lot of Eastern Europeans at the Albertsons in Jackson and always assume they bring them in to work, but curious where they house them (?)

We used to stay in/around Jackson but nowadays we stay in Idaho around Victor or Driggs. We still make it over to Jackson/Teton/Yellowstone but we spend most of our time fishing, so Idaho is best - cheaper stay and better fishing. Would love to have a place up there someday in ID or WYO but wouldn't really want to winter anywhere in WYO on a permanent basis - you can leave the house on Friday and not make it back for a week.
