Regarding Jackson....
a) Teton county has the fewest acres of privately owned land in the state and as a result (supply - demand), the billionaires have moved the millionaires out to say, Dubois. While other counties in the state are concentrating on road maintenance, Teton county is dealing with affordable housing...which it is not. When the sheriff deputy or hospital nurse (much less the 7-11 store worker) has to live in Pinedale or Idaho, there is a problem when the roads are closed.
b) Depending on how you lean politically, Teton county is one of the two blue counties in the state. Following from a) above, the native Wyomingite population percentage is low compared to the CA type imports who can afford it.
c). There is no question that it is beautiful.
Regarding some of the weather comments....
I am actually considering 'snowbirding' in ColSta during the winter. You have to want to be here as the wind and temperature comments in the posts above are correct. What I tell my Ag brethren about the wind is "when the wind blows 90 mph on the gulf coast, you give it a person's name. We call it "Thursday"'.
I live here and enjoy it (most of the time). I like to return to TX and enjoy that too. Embrace the differences.
