Looks like most of the models are backing off on the strength too

You do realize that is after landfall right?
I thought it meant 0 hr is now (or whenever the map is released) and goes from there. Doesn't make sense that it would strengthen after hitting land.

That's how I've always interpreted it.

Was calm earlier her in friendswood

Now we have a sustained wind of 10MPH from the east. It is really nice outside but I am seeing lightening in the distance.

Jumping from a 1 to a 4 over night? That would be crazy. Especially since the winds didn't increase from 7-10

dropping barometric pressure = strengthening storm, esp negative ramification for wind speeds (they will likely further increase)
We're from North California, and South Alabam
and little towns all around this land...

I'm no pro but when pressure drops, there's more intensifying, in a very basic sense. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Neil Sanger needs to BACK OFF the enthusiasm level. He ought to ride it out in my little fishing cabin off Lane Road, on the left side across from Charlies. I pulled most I could haul out of there in the last two days, and I will say goodbye to the little cabin I had with my Dad (passed 3 years ago). There are "haves" and "have nots" in this world (us the nots), but that little cabin gave us access to have a little bit of heaven for a while. LOTS of great memories, and that's likely all it will be after this weekend. It was not even insurable due to the low level and proximity to the water.

It survived Claudette as a Cat 1 with the eye passing directly over, however that was a rapidly changing storm going cat 1 at the last minute with minimal surge. Our floor got damp. This time the surge should be about 3 feet in the cabin for a couple of days with constant water movement. Done.

Not to mention the other families that live in the region who's primary residence is in that area.

We live in Victoria, and have just finished boarding up. Mom is in the Hospital and I have to try and prep her house tomorrow.

So, Neil, finish with a period instead of an exclamation point like you are exited. There is a whole lot of sheet going on right now to prep, and a whole lot going to be lost. Tone it down.

And for those that are so exited about "rain" in your area or filling a reservoir, it comes at a price to others. Keep that in mind.

Well, I'm still fairly optimistic.
If any bugger outers need assistance, post up.
A bunch of people will be glad to help you.

Thanks for the info, guys. That's kind of what I thought, but his Tweet made it sound like "finally" this thing is calming down.

Anyway, I've said a prayer for you and your family.

Wishing you the best, Sarge. Our house was trashed by Alicia many years ago and my stress levels go through the roof whenever one of these things enter the Gulf. To all of you along the coast stay safe.

Thank you Blahhead.

And thoughts and prayers are with your Grandmother Dlance.

It was not a lecture, BTW.

Claudette wiped out an entire family's legacy on my maternal side.
From 1800s County Judge's papers to Houston Fat Stock Show ribbons and degrees from my Mom, and literally countless memories and stories.
I get it.
We get it.
No one is making light of the situation.
No one here had any effect on the situation.
