Trying to decide if I should board my windows today or not. I'm in Victoria, in town in a neighborhood on the SE side of town on an inside street but the front of my house faces almost straight south. Thoughts?

That just means flooding. Depending on the area in Houston, it could be bad or very minimal.

If you decide to do board, do it like Loupots did several years ago.
It's supposed to strengthen all the way through landfall. Those always hit harder than ones that are stagnant.
In CC, I think we are making the call to bring whatever equipment we can in from the field and secure our inventory/office, and then send everyone home to prep.
Your wife should chat with some neighbors who have lived there for a bit. They would be able to provide some reference as to how the area handles a lot of rain.

My Aunt is 78 and has lived in Friendswood since the 60s. She has lost 3 houses to flooding in all those years. At age 70 she finally moved to San Antonio because of hurricanes.

Where in friendswood exactly? I grew up there so I'm very familiar with which areas flood and which don't.
Allison knocked out an entire neighborhood, but that has never been rebuilt. Most other areas handled it decently well, but there's been a lot of new construction since 2001.

Think I may board the ones on my daughters room because there is a tree right there. Luckily they are well established and well trimmed. Might get a new roof outta this which I've been needing for a bit

Might take tomorrow off to help the in laws move cattle off the Guadalupe
When Ike hit, a bunch of the OB came to help my Dad cleanup his house in San Leon since he doesn't move around very well. I could sure use the help this year if this storm gets bad enough.

Run from water, hide from wind. Unless they are living near a creek or bayou, or they are up by the coast in an area that is threatened by storm surge, it is better to simply shelter in place and ride it out.
I've been run smack over by the Eye walls of Alicia and Ike in my lifetime living in houston, and Ike hit my house with 100 mph wind gusts and sustained at 80+. and other than losing power we were fine.
