I think a fully plumed bull spoonie is such a gorgeous duck. I can't wait to get mine back from Avian Arts I shot a few weeks ago in Oklahoma. Not a speck of brown on his neck or chest, amazing

Slowest hunt of the year for me but still not bad. 3 hunters 11 birds (lost two - no dog) on a mid week hunt.

Had a good time though.

One of those really good days. The hole iced up and the decoys were stuck in the ice and it still didn't matter. Feet down at 15 yards.

Watched the birds work for awhile after we had our ducks. Nearly had a big ol bully pintail drake touch his feet on my boat. I thought he was gonna eat my donut out of my hand.

I don't have a duck hunting budget that includes layout boats. But I have the next best thing, a friend who does!

The boats are Momarsh fatboys. And they're hell to get in and out. We drag em with a four wheeler when we can't drive to the water. Sure are nice once they're in the water though.

Yeah, my hybrid NL is 11' long with a separate dog box and small hunt deck. The deck and bow are filled with expanding foam, and I am a fiberglass noob, so the thing weighs a ton. Dragging behind a buggy is fine but it still can be a pita. Check out Hybrid Duck Boat plans. People build the standard 8' boats for super cheap and they are light. Add a momarsh invisilab and you have all your situations covered.

Damn, it's like looking in a mirror. Slow hunts on a farm tank? Check. Gadwalls? Check. No dog? Check (for now).

Haven't shot much since after Christmas but will get out Saturday and Sunday mornings to close the season out and get a couple more chances at a mallard to mount.

Been tied up at home with our new baby for the last couple weeks. Finally got a mid day pass to hit the woods so headed to Somerville to put some miles on the waders and enjoy the weather. Checked a number of spots with nothing more than a couple woodies. Not many birds around at all. Finally crossed paths with a nice flock of green wings and made it count.

About par for the course as of late, but at least I'm on the board for the first time in 2017. Picked up my decoys and layout blind today, but might see what I can walk up on one last time tomorrow morning since it's the last day. I'll be up early starting a brisket on the pit so might as well anyways.
