Yes. He did what he was supposed to do. I'm guessing a lot of the people complaining are saying something along the lines of "WHERE IS THE OUTRAGE NOW THAT IT'S A WHITE BOY?"

Also, that guy couldn't look more like a 2ndLt if he tried. Does the right thing by instinct, then immediately second guesses himself and looks around to make sure he's doing the right thing

The only reason the 2LT had to turn and look for the flag is because most likely the PLT SGT or SGD Leader took it without filling out the proper paper work, then trusted it in the care of a young PFC who immediately pawned it for money to pay for rims or speakers for his '94 Cavalier.

For Milwaukee, some wood porn:



I was playing around with some cigar tray concepts, and liked this idea. I think I may make another and do the same style and same logo, but maybe change the canon to a cigar, but not sure if that is catchy or corny.

And a humidor in progress. Curly maple wood with ebony trim and a koa and ebony star inlay on the top:



It has a few more days for the finish to cure before I can polish it, then I will cut the lid off the box and outfit the inside.

I have some colored veneers on order that should get in next week I will play with. Also, we are pretty good on donations covering cost, so while I appreciate any more donations, I would have to come up with some crazy ideas and details to exceed the donated value.

Was on vacation last week with the family, so not much done then. I did get the veneers in, but cutting perfect circles and inlaying them is a complete pain in the butt and I haven't been able to make a test piece to a quality I am happy with. So I decided to test out a relief carving of the Olympics symbol in some wood. For a first stab it turned out pretty well. I am going to play a little more with the texture and format, but may look at doing a mahogany box with a relief carving on the top of the Olympic logo. Before anyone says anything, I know the overlap on the bottom right ring is wrong, but its a test piece, so deal with it!

You better get your **** together and do this right. After all we are paying you good money to make this handcrafted wooden box to send to an olympic athlete that represented this country in such an honorable way. Do not disgrace the OB by getting the Olympic rings slightly wrong because we all know that rings go the other way.

I wanted to bump this to update those who donated. I have a few boxes framed/veneered, but have been trying to get hold of Sam (via facebook or his father via is webpage email) but with no luck. I wanted to get some feedback to see if they had a preference on the outfitting of the inside of the box (keepsake box/humidor/watchbox/etc). Fido96 has been trying to help also, but to no avail. A quick update: I did get in touch with Sam thanks to LoudestWHOOP!'s help via contacting his girlfriend (+1 for texags internet stalking!). I am discussing designs with him now and what he wants, but he is on active duty orders, so communication is hit and miss for him with email, but we are working out some ideas then I can get started. I will update when I get things moving. I have about a dozen humidors/boxes in progress with a bunch of different veneers that I am letting him have choice from, or I will start a new one from scratch if he wants a style/shape or wood type that I don't have in WIP.

Curious Agrams - can you CNC the relief for the rings and then CNC matching rings for the inlay?
