Farmer I wondered what the cotton farmers thought about this rain. I figured it was bad. Driving to CS on 79 all the fields seem to have not produced yet which seemed odd. Maybe the rain already wiped them out. This Tuesday dropping off the youngest for Fish Camp.

That's rough. Can't imagine.

Only about 5% of the crop in the region had been harvested. Next 10 days will be killer.

My aunt said they're getting way too much rain that Was on the 15th. No matter if defoliated or not that is no good. Coming their from CS tomorrow to let my daughter open some alligator eggs hopefully.

Any Madsen's left in the Danevang area? My great-aunt (grandmother's sister) was married to one, and they were bigtime cotton people back in the day (1930's-80's) when they were still with us. I know they had a number of kids, and there were other Madsen relatives around as well. Figured there might be a few that are still farming.

Cotton where I am out west of San Antonio isn't quite ready yet but they sure don't need any more rain next week.

Dry in Lubbock. Hoping that changes this week.

A month ago we were at 6" YTD with our average for that time being closer to 10", and haven't had anything of any significance since then...at least at my location.

Will do. We looked at about 500 acres today and called it quits. Insurance is telling the guys they may have to harvest it, but the ginners won't be able to gin it. Going to wait until this northern blows it out, but we may be shredding down 3 bale cotton.

We aren't isolated.



This is Hill County up north of Waco. Everywhere inbetween is showing 50-100% sprouting. The most our local gins have ever remotely been successful dealing with is 20%.

Could be a complete loss of the cotton crop in central and coastal Texas.
