Nope, one of the perks of not evacuating,on a mandatory order is that they wont come get you. It is what it is.

In that case, good luck and godspeed John Glenn!

We are on a higher elevation lense in the neighborhood, and all of the drainage is away from us. Just drove around and I am only slightly concerned, and that conern is limited to the possibility of dealing with a few inches of water in the house.

But the water will need to rise about 3 more feet to get there, and it would have a long, long way to go over a massive area to get that high. In theory anyway.

Only thing I will say is that a 53 ft crest from a back fill flood will crest differently than a 53 ft crest from torrential rain.

So long as you realize that you are good. We have gotten ourselves into trouble with cattle when we say "oh it's just gonna get to 46' like last time".

Good luck.

I'm not telling you your business buddy. But the river got 5 feet over where it did last year in Richmond/Rosenberg.

The report says they were in a "light medium tactical vehicle". That doesn't really make sense, it's either light or medium. A light would be an MRAP. A medium would be like a deuce and half. Im guessing that due to the number of people that they were in a deuce and a half type vehicle. Something like this:

Not exactly.

A 2.5 ton cargo truck (deuce and a half) is the lightest of the vehicles you mentioned and there are just a few relics of that type still around.

Deuce and a Half

The next possibility would be the FMTV which I'm guessing it what got washed away in this case. It's the replacement for the old 2.5 ton truck and the old M800 & M900 series five 5 ton trucks.

FMTV

An MRAP is an armored vehicle that weighs 14-18 tons but to fit 12 Soldiers inside one would be a real trick especially if they were carrying field kit. There are large variants like the JERV and small variants like the MATV that are in the class of mine resistant ambush protected vehicles.

MRAP

The picture you pasted above is a Marine Corps 7.5 ton cargo truck referred to as the MTVR (medium tactical vehicle replacement). The Army borrows a few MTVRs to tow M777 howitzers in rough terrain in Afghanistan because the FMTV is underpowered for that job. I don't believe that the Army in CONUS has bought or borrowed any MTVRs from the Marine Corps.

MTVR

Knowing the sort of folks that live in that part of Hood County, I can't say I'm surprised that some idiot tried that.

Also, little late, but here is an aerial shot of the Pecan Plantation front gate bridge in Granbury that I was talking about a few pages back. This was right before the water came up over the bridge. For anyone who's been through here before, you know just how much water it took to get the river this high.

I know. I dont have levees in my neck of the woods to squeeze it in either. It has to cover a massive area to rise that much where I am at. Water is in the hood, but has not breached any houses yet. Nothing in my section yet.

Still projecting 52.8' at Rosharon, expected crest around midnight.

Will do. Just drove the hood, things still looking good. I think it is slowing down, even though the crest is not projected until tomorrow night now. Thought I was going to,get to pop a pig, but he was already dead.

I'm sure it sustained some damage but I saw a shot after the water receded a little where it was still there.

Still high and dry. Just did a tour of the neighborhood. Water is still coming up, but feels like it is slowing down. No water in houses that i am aware of. Still flowing the right direction. Crest is predicted for, tonight, so we are in the middle of the worst of it.

Wish it would stop raining though. Not sure how much it really is hurting, but damned if a day of sun wouldnt be nice just for the mwntal side of things right now.
