Another 1.75 in north Corpus yesterday with golfball sized hail. Fortunately, that size was the exception and not the rule, so no damage.

Too excited by the forecast and the actual rainfall to post on the innerwebz. ...or maybe work cranked back up this week. Either way I'm checking email for the last time before I head home from the office.

VERY fun day weather wise. A dozen or so tornados, some solid hail, and a good bit of rain so far. NWS reports 2.15" today with 1.4" of that falling in the last 45 minutes or so. Some of our biggest cells of the day are forecast in the next few hours. I don't want to sleep in the basement tonight so I'll probably stay up until midnight or so to see how this thing gels out. So far all of the tornados have been 10-50 miles west of my house but that can change pretty quickly. I'm basically right about where I-335 hits I-470 on the SE side of Topeka and the newest big line of storms looks to be converging in that general area.

If I die tonight be sure and say, "He always said he loved Spring severe storm season." ...because I do. Some of the most awesome and amazing power in God's world. Almost instantaneous in their development (and regression) then just this amazing power. I cannot begin to explain the thrill and excitement I get from watching a true plains thunderstorm build, and back-build, and then explode.

This time last year for April-June I was in Oklahoma for work. I have never heard tornado sirens go off with such regularity before. It seemed like it stormed for two months straight. I'm glad to be in Houston chance of flooding and all.

My favorite is NOAA Hi Ded radar Pro for $1.99.
I also have RadarScope but it is a little complicated for me

Weather Radio by WDT. Someone recommended it here a few years ago and it's the best radar app I've seen. Updates at least every 5 min and you can set alerts for whatever boundary/area size you'd like. If there is a weather alert your phone will alert you with the NWS broadcast

It hit my area (Kingwood) about 5am. I got dressed a bit faster as I knew the drive would suck in that type of rain. I'll check the gauge when I get home, but it was one hell of a lightning and thunder show.

A little wind and noise, but that's about it. Lost power for an hour or so. Resetting all the clocks seems to be the bulk of the damage.

Power went out in the middle of the night. Found a few roof shingles in our yard from our neighbor. Biggest loss looks like our DirecTV dish is busted. We can watch recordings, but no live TV.

Hit me around 5 or so this morning. Lots of lightening and some thunder, good heavy and steady rain for about an hour. Had to make a thunder fort for my dog for the first time in a long time, thunder was actually loud enough for her to hear this time and the lightening was intense enough to scare her pretty good.

The dog woke me up during the storm at 12:45, 2:30, and 4:15 on the one night I had to be up at 4:45 because she was scared.
