My truck has a 6inch lift and I couldn't get off my street 30min ago. It hasn't stopped raining either. Riata Ranch in Cypress.

Why is everyone surprised with all the record flooding?

Development comes deforestation and more concrete which mean more runoff.

Same out here in Wimberly area. People keep moving out here and build build buuld.

There has been rain this hard and as much before and no record flooding.

Havent gotten **** south of town. We need rain badly too.

16+ inches north of Katy in past 12 hours. The 100-year event in the Houston region is a little less than 13 inches in 24 hours.

I had to ford deep water and go around several closed roads trying to get from spring to Waller early this morning. Also saw a power pole knocked down by a lightning strike.

More rain headed that way. I am driving thru it near Hempstead now.

We have received 16 inches of rain in about 9 hours out here where I live near Copperfield. I have lived in West Houston for nearly 20 years and the Houston area for about 40 of my 46 years, and can't remember the west Houston Katy area receiving that much rain in that short of a time, but feel free to point out where it has happened before. Yes, development is a problems, but these are Allison/Claudette type rainfall rates we have experienced in NW Harris County.

Hays ISD just cancelled classes for the day.

Well I got out of the back of the subdivision onto Eldridge. Smooth sailing up to 1960, then east towards Jones. Sheriff had 1960 closed at white oak bayou at the Windermere Lakes Subdivision. That places impassable. Back down Eldridge to try and get to Jones. No go. Reason I was out is my wife is a nurse at Cy Fair Med Center Hospital. They are actually flooded in! The water has actually receded on my street since 0400, but I guess there's more coming.

0.00 in Corpus. Our time is coming this afternoon into tomorrow.

My hood is surrounded by forks of cypress creek. It is over the banks and over the bridges so I'm on an island. Don't think I'm at a risk of water in the house but nowhere to go.

3rd 100 year flood of the last 8 months now. Really sick of this ****. Time to gets the cows again. I never thought i'd hate living on the brazos but i'm getting there. Waller showing over 17 inches of rain in 24 hours. Not a typo, thats way more than during allison.

Just issued a flash flood emergency for Houston. Expecting another 10"+. Bayous are already breaching.

Barely a sprinkle on my drive in this morning until I hit BW8 on the south side of Houston. A good steady rain from that point on to my office near Hobby. Rain has picked up since then. No flooding of note, just idiots driving 40 MPH all clustered together with their hazard lights on when there was no reason to.

Rumor has it my place is going to get it's time in the rain around noon-ish today. We'll see how it pans out.

Any updates?

News in DFW said there were 60+ flooded subdivisions in Houston.

Waller county sitting at 17" right now. Had to move my birds! Snakes possums and such are evacuating their homes.

Houston is basically shut down. Me and the dogs are chillin on the couch in Pearland watching it all.

No change in river forecast yet. Problem is this flood is rsing FAST. 30 feet in 24 hours. Usually we have a couple of days notice to watch it.

All that still has to flow through downtown Houston to get to the Gulf. It's going to get nasty.

Still getting pounded here in Colorado county.
I dumped the rain gauge yesterday afternoon and it's over running right now so 10+ inches.

I've never seen rain like this outside of a tropical system.

2920 was almost impassible at 0630. I don't want to know what it'll look like when I go back through at 1830.

Guess our flight from Reagan National to Hobby isn't happening today. Looking for a good stopover point to at least get a bit closer to home.
